The Different Types of Printer Cartridges the Different Types of Printer Cartridges
Even though modern technology has made enormous progress, general sales through conventional methods of selling is still the norm, with printers being very much in daily use in every kind of business. On the market, the range of printers available is so enormous, that before a purchase is made, it is necessary to consider what each one has to offer, and to see which best suits your particular needs.
Regardless of the printer, compatible ink cartridges are good options to buy because they are usable by all the various models of printers and are most cost effective. The printer manufacturing companies manufacture their own cartridges for their various models of printers; these cartridges do have the advantage of a warranty and very good quality printing, should this be a necessary requirement for you.
However, these OEM cartridges are expensive due to heavy company investment of the design and the plastic casing holding the ink, with companies such as HP and Lexmark having patented their inks and print heads. If you do not require such specialised printing, then rather buy a compatible or a remanufactured cartridge, which are usually perfectly adequate for office use.
The Compatible cartridges manufactured by independent companies and not the original printer company, claim to be as reliable, with good quality printing and most have ISO 9001 certification. The important difference being that as they are recycled they cost about fifty per cent less than that of original cartridges, which is quite a saving. Should the cartridge however have a defect and ruin your printer, the printer company will no longer honour the warranty and payment for service or any part replacements will be for your account.
Remanufactured cartridges are empty cartridges that have been cleaned and non-working parts replaced. The cartridges are then filled with new ink. They do have the advantage of having more ink in them than original cartridges because most original cartridges are not filled to their total capacity, although the amount of prints executed by the remanufactured cartridge is questionable and often not as many as the makers claim.
Toner cartridges also known as laser toners are the consumable component of laser printers. Containing toner powder, which is a fine dry mix of plastic particles, carbon and black or other colouring agents, the cartridge transfers “ink” to paper electro statically, which is then fused (fixed) by heated rollers during printing. They are impressive with making copies and printing high quality reports. Laser cartridges last a good deal longer than wet ink cartridges.
Refilling of cartridges is a messy business if you are doing it yourself. It is far simpler to take the cartridge to a firm that specialises in the process. They have the machinery for doing the refilling on their premises and save you a lot of bother and money.
It is interesting to note that Michael Dell, the manufacturer of Dell printers and Dell toner cartridges, started his multi-billion dollar corporation from his college dormitory and before the age of 30 became the youngest CEO to have his company ranked in the Fortune 500.
