Five Tips For Couples Photography

One of the greatest things a couple can do is getting their photo taken together. A good photo will last for years and even generations. It is always interesting to look at your photo years later and think back to that time of your life and that stage of your relationship. Here are few tips to make the process go as smooth as possible.

There are many reasons for couples to get their photo taken. The purpose of the photo may dictate many other things that need to be determined. If the purpose of the photo is to be used in an engagement setting, then that will lend it to be more of a formal photo. If the purpose is to give the photo as a couple to the family then the photo may reflect more of your personal characteristics. If the purpose is to maintain a photographic record of your life for the two of you to enjoy, then it should reflect your individual personality.

A couple should agree on the location where the photo will be taken. Photos can be taken indoors or outdoors. Indoor photos can be taken at home or in a studio, church, school, or some other location that has meaning to the couple. If the photo is taken outdoors it needs to be decided if it will be taken in the back yard, or park, the ranch, or the site where the couple met. The photo setting must be in keeping in the purpose of the photograph so let the purpose dictate the setting.

There is usually one person who really wants the photo taken and one person who is less enthusiastic. The one who is less enthusiastic should defer to the one who has strong feelings. For both individuals when they look back at the photo it will remind them of a time that compromise was in order. That’s one of the most important things in a relationship. A couple should agree on the attire if it should be formal, business casual or casual. If the couple wears a uniform, police, fire, military or some other, it should be agreed upon if it’s to be worn. The nature of the attire should reflect the goal or purpose of the photo. If the purpose is for your own pleasure, it’s possible to have one formal and then one in shorts, but it must be agreed to by both.

The pose, or poses, say a lot about the photograph as well as the individuals. The purpose may also dictate the pose. A formal pose for a formal purpose, but no matter what pose is selected it needs to be agreed upon to reflect the personality of the couple. A pose can demonstrate a lot of love. Lastly is to set an appointment for the sitting that is doesn’t conflict with anything. Then keep the appointment no matter what. If you follow these tips you will have an enjoyable time and the smiles on your faces will be heartfelt.
