Reasons To Learn Self Defense
Some people may associate self defense to learning martial arts techniques. Well, this is partly true but it does not necessarily mean that you need to undergo years of training to be able to defend yourself against bad people. You could use weapons like stun gun, taser, pepper spray and others for self-defense. Therefore, the concept of having to spend years of martial arts training is not necessarily true. Of course, you could always challenge yourself by mastering some forms of martial arts like Taekwondo, Wushu, Karate, Kung Fu or even boxing but if you want, you could also just learn about the basics moves.
Another misconception about self defense is that it is only for college girls who need to defend themselves from rude guys. Well, this is absolutely false because everyone – including men need to learn about self defense.
Here are some reasons why you should learn self defense:
1. To keep yourself safe all the time – we hear different stories about murder, kidnapping, rape, homicide, burglary and others in the news every day. It is indeed scary to go outside alone at night. However, there are times that you need to therefore, it would be better if you know how to defend yourself against bad people. There are many people out there who can cause you harm but if you know some self-defense techniques like blocking a punch, kicking, punching or probably you know how to use stun gun then you have better chances of keeping yourself safe all the time.
2. To gain self-confidence – knowing that you know basic self defense techniques or moves will give you some kind of boost in your morale. You will gain self-confidence that you never knew you had in you. Of course, it feels great to know that you can defend yourself from anyone, anytime of the day.
3. To enhance your physical strength – undergoing training in martial arts will surely enhance your physical strength. It will keep your muscles strong and healthy. You could develop speed, balance and overall body coordination. Learning martial arts will surely teach you how to be fierce but most important of all it will teach you how to be strong to face the opponent or attacker.
4. To improve your body figure – training for some forms of martial arts like karate, Kung Fu, Taekwondo or boxing could also give you the body figure that you have always wanted. These martial arts can also be good forms of cardio exercise and resistance training that will result to sexier and healthier body physique. Therefore, you could skip your workout in the gym when you commit yourself to martial arts training.
You should seriously consider about learning self defense whether you are a guy, girl or even a young kid. The world that we are living in is not as peaceful as we hope it would be. There are many dangers that may come our way, so it is best if we are prepared to fight back for our safety.
