Tamerica TPF-42 Paper Folding Machine Review

Do you fold letters, literature, brochures and other material on a daily basis. Does that volume involve hundreds to possibly even thousands of documents per day? If you are shopping around or are researching a paper folding machine for your business or office, one affordable option to consider is the Tamerica TPF-42. I have used this machine and would like to share a few of my thoughts with you.

Tamerica is a leading manufacturer of specialized office equipment. Some of these machines include pouch laminators, roll laminators, binding machines and even paper folding machines. Their machines are considered good quality alternatives to many more expensive machines.

The TPF-42 definitely fits the description of being a quality alternative. If you have been shopping around for machines, you may have seen the MBM 207M / 206M. The TPF-42 is very (extremely) similar in setup, operation and use. I\’ll cover a few of these similarities in this article.

The TPF-42 is what\’s known as a friction-feed paper folding machine. That means that rubber rollers actually pull paper, via friction, into the machine for folding. This is a very efficient system that is used for folding card stock, standard paper and more. It can, however, be sensitive to glossy and coated paper. If you want to fold slicker paper, I highly recommend sending in samples prior to making a purchase. Slick paper can often lead to slips in the machine and can result in paper jams.

This folding machine is also manually set up. Two separate folding plates must be set up prior to operation. Most manual set up folding machines require that you loosen a set of thumb screws and then manually shuffle plates back and forth. This is not the case with the TPF-42. This machine uses a system, very similar to the MBM machines, that simply requires that you pinch a bracket and slide the plates back and forth. This makes setup extremely easy and helps keep the skew and registration dead on accurate. Folds are very clearly indicated on the folding plates, making setup easy.

Not only is this machine easy to set up, and almost exact in setup and operation to the MBM machines, it also features a nice build quality. At 88 pounds shipped, it isn\’t exactly a cheap piece of plastic. It fits nicely on most desks and tables.

This folding machine can handle paper from 12# up to 60# and accepts paper sizes ranging from 3.5\” x 5\” up to 11\” x 17\”. It creates all the common folds including letter, accordion, single, double parallel, half accordion, gate and many more. Because the folding plates are manually adjusted, custom folds are easy to create.

This machine features a digital counter, adjustable speed controls and can do batch folding. Simply put, it is a nice piece of equipment.

Having used this myself, I would recommend this for small business, medium business, school and church use. It is perfect for daily folding operations and should hold up for some time. Best of all, it will cut down on frustration by simply being one of the easiest manual setup machines to use. You will find the Tamerica TPF-42 at ABCOffice.com.
