Cleanse and De-Clutter With Spring Cleaning

“Spring Cleaning Delux, Clear Clutter and Boost Performance” is the title on the box of software by SmithMicro.

That’s just what I need!

This has been a strange winter. The warmth and lack of rain has all the plants and trees confused! There are signs of spring like the cherry blossoms and daffodils are everywhere. Even though the official start of spring is not until March 20th, it’s felt like spring for weeks now.

Spring cleaning usually means a thorough cleaning of your home from top to bottom, like vacuum under the rug and wipe behind the furniture type of cleaning, which is much more thorough than your usual straightening.

Why is it every year around this time, I have the inexplicable urge to clean and clear out clutter? Is it the longer days that translate into better moods and more energy? I don’t know. While I can’t dedicate weeks to cleaning the house, I do enjoy, yes, enjoy, a thorough cleaning and de-cluttering each spring.

It’s time to clean out closets and make room for “new\” things in life. Springtime always means new possibilities and a fresh start.

Along with cleaning out my home, it’s the perfect time for a spring “refresh” cleanse to remove toxins that have built up over the past few months.

An internal cleanse usually “reboots” my internal system and I feel less sluggish. I enjoy the increased energy as a result of internal cleansing and removal of toxins that weigh me down.

I love spring cleaning in order to make room for the new! Purging my closet of the things I don’t wear and things that do not serve me any longer feels great. Clearing the clutter in my house and removing things that are just taking up too much space seems to clear my brain and increase my productivity. It’s amazing what I accumulate over such a short time.

Here are a few of the areas I will ‘cleanse’ and de-clutter this spring:

Body – Complete a refresh cleanse and start training for the 101th running of the Bay to Breaker race in San Francisco.

Home – Clean out my garage. We’ve been in our home for a little over a year, and our garage is jam packed. We can barely walk in there, much less park a car!

Clean my desk. My desk is pretty cluttered with everything I’m working on. I have it organized into piles. The thought of filing everything away until I’m actually working on it is a bit frightening. I’m afraid I’ll forget about it. These piles serve as constant reminders of what needs to be done, and really wears on me. In actuality, it’s very unlikely I’ll forget about anything as I have a detailed to-do list in addition to the piles. I’d like to file everything away so that there’s only one thing on my desk at any given time. I believe I will be more productive and get more done in a timely fashion when I can focus my attention on only what’s in front of me.

Mind – Meditate regularly to clear the mental fog.
