Place the top and base of the crate and screw the hinges in order to secure and assemble the whole crate except for the door. Install two hinges on the side of the front door as well as the sliding lock on the other end which will automatically lock as soon as the puppy is placed inside.

-Sand – as soon as you are done with the carpentry and assembly work, the next thing you need to do is to smoothen out the edges of the crate. This is important in order to prevent your puppy from pawing or gnawing at the edges which can splinter in the long run. It is also essential as a preparation process in case you want to paint or stain the crate both from the inside and on the outside.

-Paint – in case you have decided on painting the puppy container, you can start by applying paint primer using the brush. By the time the primer dries up, you can then apply the color of paint material you want to use on the crate. Make sure that you do not coat the structure too much as this will lead to peeling and breaking of paint which can be eaten by a curious puppy.
