Finding the Perfect Playsuit
Playsuits have been appearing on the catwalks for a few seasons now but they are still on-trend this summer with more variations than ever before. The most popular type of playsuit is the floaty, floral, 70s indie type, but there are other types to suit other styles. You can look sophisticated in a playsuit for a night out, or casual for a day about town – playsuits can suit every shape and style thanks to their versatility.
Whatever your size, shape or height, you can find a playsuit or jumpsuit to suit your figure. Some prefer the ditzy floral 70s prints for a bohemian, hippy look and others might prefer the sophisticated and tailored playsuit for a night on the town or evening occasion – thanks to their versatility, they can be worn for any type of occasion.
Playsuits divide women in the fashion industry – some see them as a high-fashion piece and others see them as as a faux-pas. If you aren’t a fan of playsuits it may be because you haven’t found one to suit your shape. Some people will have tried on a playsuit and then dismissed it thinking no other playsuit will suit them, this is where you are going wrong. If you tried a dress and it didn’t suit you, would you never purchase a dress again? The same goes for a playsuit, you’ll need to try a variety of options until you find one to suit you.
Try a fitted playsuit if you have a curvier figure as it will give you a perfect hourglass silhouette, especially if you cinch in the waist with a thin belt. Most people think playsuits only good on tall and slim types, and for particular styles this is the case, think of thin-strapped floaty playsuits – these are better for slimmer builds. But a cutesy, floaty one shoulder playsuit can suit a variety of figures.
You can team a playsuit with pretty much anything. Dress it down with a long cardigan for a casual day out or dress it up with cropped boyfriend blazers and a pair of heels for an evening out. You can wear a playsuit with tights and ankle boots in the winter or you can bare your legs and arms for a hot summer’s day. Or you can throw a jumper over the top of your playsuit and you can create a short-effect.
The difference between a playsuit and a jumpsuit is that the latter is long-legged and the former is usually in short form. Playsuits with a peter pan collar are bang on trend this season, peter pan collars are everywhere at the moment, on t-shirts, dresses and even playsuits! Jumpsuits tend to have billowing legs with lots of room, this can look very effortless and flattering, especially when you wear a thin belt to cinch the waist in – you don’t want it to look too baggy otherwise you won’t be showing off your gorgeous feminine figure!
No matter what shape, size or height you are, there’s a playsuit or jumpsuit out there to suit you. There are a variety of cheap playsuits available online. If you’ve tried one on before and it hasn’t suited you, then try another, and then another! You might be surprised how good a playsuit will make you look.
