Things To Consider When Preparing Your Rabbit Cage
Rabbit can be an excellent pet in the house with proper care from its owner. Therefore, if you were planning to adopt pet rabbit then you should be sure to take care of the animal’s needs especially its cage.
Rabbit specifically needs conducive and safe cage where it can stay most of the times. You should be aware that this pet is not fond of being cuddled or carried away from its cage so it is very important to prepare a clean and comfortable housing for your pet bunny.
Here are some things to consider when preparing your rabbit cage:
Choose the material for your rabbit cage – there are two possible materials to be used for the cage of your bunny – metal wire or wood. Wooden cage is very appropriate for a house with rustic and traditional style. The design of wooden cage will surely add beauty to the house. However, the problem with using wooden cages is that the rabbit has the tendency to chew on anything that they can get their teeth on like the woods. Therefore, you should make sure that there are no harmful chemicals or substances used in the wooden cage to keep your pet safe all the time. You could also use wire cage but you should ensure full safety of your rabbit while it is inside the cage. Make sure that the flooring has vinyl floor sheet to avoid the rabbit from walking on the wire that can cause accident. Well, you could also use plastic-type material at the bottom part of the cage and snap-fit wire cage on the top. This will be easier to clean for sure.
Proper size of the cage – it is also very essential to consider the size of the cage. To be able to provide spacious and comfortable cage for your pet rabbit, you should know the size of the rabbit first. Therefore, it is better to prepare the cage once you already have the bunny with you. You could prepare temporary housing until you come up with cage with appropriate size. Rabbit needs a cage wherein it can move around freely. This animal loves to jump around and move back and forth in the cage. It is not a good idea to house your pet bunny in a small and confine shelter because the tendency is that they will feel depressed and stressed out.
Price – of course, you should also consider the price of the cage that you will provide for your pet. It is advisable to be practical but you should not settle for cheap cages without ensuring the safety of your rabbit in it. It would be great to find specialty store that offers great discount so you could save some amount of money. It may be great to have customized cage for your pet but this type of cage could be pricey.
You should make sure to remember the considerations about the rabbit cage mentioned in this article when planning to adopt a pet rabbit.
