Video Poker Game History and Its Fundamentals

The original video poker game became widely available during the proliferation of PC use during 1970. Although they were quite primitive adaptations when compared to the contemporary software, it was still entertaining to play. With the manufacturing of solid-state central processors and displays, video poker became accessible to the public. This was an era of fast development of each and every slot machine and production was in huge quantities.

The IGT Company (the chief supplier of gaming devices) started making video poker programs for gambling establishments and casinos during the year 1979. Gambling with no dealer had officially begun and quickly gained popularity amongst casino games enthusiasts. In this day and age, there are millions and millions of slot machine aficionados across the globe. During the 80s, this game turned more and more popular as individuals didn’t have to sit at casino tables. Thus, they felt more relaxed playing their favorite game. The same year, the concept of video poker having a multi-hand feature was created.

Video poker game is an adaptation of the standard poker game, though it’s played in front of a slot machine with no other players or dealer. The main objective of a player is to have the best card combination making use of only 5 cards. The video casino game is played using the standard deck of 52 cards. It is typically divided into 4 stages. Initially, a player selects his bid amount and then he’s dealt with 5 cards, which are shown on his screen so he could select which cards he wishes to discard. As soon as a player has chosen the cards he wants to discard, the machine replaces them, and if he’s able to make an appropriate poker combination, he wins. Lastly, after winning a hand, a player’s presented an option to play the bonus game. If he does win his hand, he would double his prize money.

The regulations of a bonus game are simple. A player is given 5 cards, with only 1 card facing up and 4 cards facing down. A player must then select from the 4 cards facing down, & if the card he selects ranks higher than the single open card, he wins. On the other hand, if he doesn’t manage to beat the higher ranked card, all of his winnings are lost.

The differences between a standard poker and video poker are the following: the game is played with no dealer who can beat one’s hand; the game’s played with no other players so there’s no need to mull over what cards they might be holding; there’s no probability of a bluff; and it’s guaranteed that the best hand would win.

Winning card combinations are similar as when playing standard poker, though depending on the adaptation of the video poker, one’s payouts might vary quite a little. Video poker game has its advantages and disadvantages, but its popularity is obvious. In each internet casino, one would find a number of different adaptations of the game.
