MSG in Food: The Taste That Kills Your Brain
Did you know that foods which contain monosodium glutamate (MSG), otherwise known as sodium glutamate, are literally destroying your brain? It’s true, and unfortunately these food additives are present in many different processed foods and seasonings, and worst of all, most people aren’t even aware of the fact that they are putting this dangerous substance into their bodies.
How Does MSG Work?
MSG in food is used as a “flavor enhancer” which, unlike natural spices, is intended to artificially produce the feeling of hunger in the brain. Manufacturers use MSG because it helps to promote the sale of otherwise inedible food products. In other words, your brain is being tricked into desiring these foods!
This is possible because MSG and other glutamates are a type of amino acid called “excitotoxins” which effectively over stimulate the neurons in the brain. These neurological stimulatory drugs are highly addictive and break down the protective blood-brain barrier by traveling through the mucous membranes and into the bloodstream.
If you’re terrified by the thought of food additives damaging your brain, you should be!
MSG’s Devastating Impact on the Brain
Studies have shown that MSG and other glutamates not only create an artificial appetite, but they also disrupt the natural function of the brainstem, which is responsible for vital body functions. When glutamates are ingested, they cause a variety of physical symptoms including excessive sweating, stomach pain, increased blood pressure and even heart palpitations. People that are particularly sensitive to glutamates may even experience migraines.
In addition, glutamates have been known to significantly impair the sense of perception as well as the ability to learn and concentrate. Worse yet, those who are allergic to glutamates may even be at risk for epileptic seizures or respiratory paralysis, which can lead to death.
How Can You Protect Yourself from MSG?
The best way to protect yourself from the dangers of MSG in food and other glutamates is to take the time to read the labels of any foods that you buy. While this may seem like a hassle, it is a small price to pay, especially when your life and health are at stake.
When you are reading food labels, make sure that you never buy any food products that contain glutamates, flavor enhancers or any “E numbers” in the 600-series, such as “E605” which is a known nerve poison. You should also avoid potassium glutamate, glutamic acid, calcium glutamate and guanylate, which is believed to be 10 times more destructive than glutamate.
You should also avoid any other products that contain these MSG-tainted food additives:
Autolyzed Yeast
Bouillon
Broth
Calcium Caseinate
Corn Oil
Food Flavoring
Hydrolyzed Oat Flour
Hydrolyzed Plant Protein
Hydrolyzed Protein
Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein
Malt Extract
Malt Flavoring
Natural Beef or Chicken Flavoring
Natural Flavors or Flavoring
Plant Protein Extract
Seasoning
Sodium Caseinate
Spices
Stock
Textured Protein (this includes TVP)
Yeast Extract
In addition, these food additives are suspected of containing MSG or other dangerous excitotoxins and should be avoided as well:
Carrageenan
Soy protein concentrate
Soy protein isolate
Whey protein concentrate
Checking labels will soon become second nature if you make the effort to start examining them each and every time you shop at the grocery store. You should also go through all of your food at home and throw out anything containing the ingredients listed above so that you have a MSG free household.
Remember, this is not a matter of simply living healthier; this is about preserving your life. Do NOT underestimate the dangers posed by MSG in food!
