Getting Big and Strong
By far the best method for building stronger muscles is by lifting weights. If you are to notice any changes in your physique you must subject the body to heavy progressive resistance. By heavy I mean weight that you can lift for approximately 10-12 repetitions correctly, and with good form. This will ensure that your muscles are broken down enough forcing them to adapt to the increased workload and then growing as a result.
If you are just starting out with weight training it is amazing to literally just watch yourself grow, the body that has not trained before responds quickly to the added workload. If you have been working out for some time you will need to keep your body guessing so that you will not plateau in your gains. This is where you must develop a strategy when it comes to working out with weights. If you are involved in an endurance type sport of course you will welcome added strength and size to your physique, but your training will be a lot different than somebody who purely wants to gain size for weightlifting or bodybuilding type purposes.
By varying different exercises when you workout you will end up recruiting lot\’s of different muscle fibers, this emphasis will ensure constant progress, as well as provide some change in your routine. If you are trying hard to gain size it is a great idea to log your activities. This way you will be able to know how much you have lifted from session to session and make adjustments accordingly. If you are always challenging yourself your body will have no chance but to adapt and grow.
The best exercises to grow your body will always be heavy compound movements, for example, bench press, squats, dead lifts. To often people get caught up in the incidentals, doing endless set after set, rep after rep, taxing their body, and then to make matters worse not resting enough so that the muscles do not have time to recuperate. It is important to train the whole body so that each part grows equally; however, to be successful with your bodybuilding endeavors a well thought out plan is essential. Something else that will also need to be considered is that of obtaining a constant supply of good quality nutrients. Without this you can expect to progress very little, most bodybuilders to this end consume food very frequently, up to five or six times daily. Rather than solely relying on supplementation for necessary vitamins, a diet full of lean proteins, good fats, and carbohydrates will help you gain quality mass. You do not need to spend countless dollars on every supplement out there in the marketplace, you do need however to consume adequate food to help your body grow.
Avoid the temptation in taking shortcuts to obtain your personal goals. Performance enhancing drugs can slide you down a slippery slope, where many to their despair have never recovered.
