Experiencing the Grand Canyon by Bus
A great way to see the World Heritage Site, the Grand Canyon, is to plan a day trip that will not require you to drive or pack. The Grand Canyon by bus gives you an opportunity to see and experience the stunning views and learn about the Park from knowledgeable guides who share stories and talk about the history of this stunning area. You can choose bus tours that leave from Las Vegas and take you to the West Rim of the Park or the South Rim.
When planning your trip, it will be helpful to think about which side of the Canyon you want to visit first. Most people plan two tours, one to the ever-popular South Rim and one to the West Rim. The West Rim is not part of the National Park and is located on the Hualapai Indian Reservation.
The Skywalk, extending 70 feet over the canyon, is a horseshoe-shaped structure that is built entirely of plate glass and allows visitors to stand \”over\” the 4,000 foot drop to the Canyon floor. This magnificent ramp gives a person a feeling of flight as they gaze out, and down the vast Canyon walls.
There are many scenic look-outs and hiking trails that give people a chance to see the wildlife and plants that inhabit this area. The West Rim is open year round and, because it stands at 4,000 feet above sea level does not experience extreme snow conditions that are found at the North and South Rims.
The South Rim is in the Upper Sonoran Eco-Zone and gives visitors a chance to see astonishing desert animals and plans. While Blackbrush and Junipers are dominate in the area, you will also have a change to see over 52 animals that include shrews, Kaibab and Abert\’s squirrels, black bears, mule deer and more.
There are many hiking trails and viewing stops and guides share both the geological and cultural history of the area. The width of the Canyon at the South Rim is over 12 miles wide and a mile deep. You can see caves where both animals and humans have lived and learn how the Canyon has evolved over the last 12,000 years.
You will find many activities that will help you to enjoy all of the beauty of the desert and get a complete understanding of the five eco-zones that comprise the Park. The Park has been home to humans for thousands of years and there are stunning remnants of life in the Paleo-Indian age.
Bus tours provide an opportunity for visitors top stretch, hike and look at some of the more interesting wonders of the park. From the convenience of a bus a person can see much more of the Park without disruptions. The tours are designed to give individuals, families or groups memories and an experience that will last a lifetime. When you are considering taking advantage of tours offering the Grand Canyon by bus it will be important to make reservations early and talk to the provider about what to expect and what you should take with you on your trip.
