Virginia Beach Keeps You Entertained
Virginia Beach, VA is a great place to live or vacation located on the southern east coast of the United States. There is a great history there to experience, and it currently has many attractions and events to keep you entertained.
The main attraction is a natural amenity of sandy coasts and rolling tides. There is something for everyone to do all around the year.
One event is the Virginia Beach Neptune Festival which is an annual celebration of the culture of Virginia Beach. Ever since 1973, thousands flock to the boardwalk to take in the festivities and cultural celebrations at the start of each fall.
Another one is the Virginia Beach Patriotic Festival which celebrates our armed forces with two days of concerts and military displays on the oceanfront. Home to one of the largest populations of military installations in the United States, this is a place of pride for its country.
The Cruisin’ Virginia Beach Car Show is held every April and hosts the coolest cars of today alongside the classic autos of the past. This event is held on the boardwalk and is a place where many come to compete for Levitra Professional trophies and cash-prizes for this one day event.
Monsters on the Beach is a rumbling oceanfront event that is where monster trucks take a spin in the sand. This is a family-targeted event that is loud, fast and exciting with sand dunes and junk cars combining to make the race course entertaining for drivers and spectators alike.
Atlantic Coast Kite Festival is another family friendly, exciting event which is held on the first weekend in May. Participants of all ages come to demonstrate to music kite ballets, sports kite flying and dual and quad line kites all throughout the day on the beach.
Kite flying lessons are included and safety rules are enforced for all participants. Kite stores and manufacturers are also on site with kites of all shapes and sizes for sale to the general public.
Chalk the Walk is another event on the boardwalk held in July and is an art explosion that encompasses a competition for participants of all ages who draw 4 by 4 chalk drawings on the boardwalk. Also, the park houses artists who display and sell paintings, jewelry, sculptures and photography.
Two blocks of the boardwalk are closed off to allow some 200 competitors to complete their art work. There are usually themes and in the past they have included “Flights of Fantasy,” “A Pirate’s Life for Me,” “Let’s go to the Movies,” and “Totally Television.”
From there, a panel of judges evaluates the drawings and narrows the selection down to the two top chalk artists in amateur, professional and youth divisions. Also, guest artists are invited and brought in to demonstrate chalk art techniques and to create a larger chalk art masterpiece throughout the day.
Gospelfest is where urban comtemporary gospel musicians take the stage to perform and celebrate music and praise. This is a new annual event, starting just in 2009 but is growing in popularity.
It is held down at the oceanfront and spreads its heavenly sounds throughout the town. There are many featured sounds and styles of music with a common theme of praise and uplifting such as Southern gospel, gospel hip hop and praise music.
Local gospel dance groups, quartets, powerful vocalists and gospel music choirs also join in to promote that genre of music that should be spread and heard worldwide. Special guests and featured artists include Julia Canadia, Michael Smith, New Harvest, Godz Boys, propecia weight gain Mount Lebanon Baptist Church Mass Choir and Fireproof.
If you have not gotten your musical fill, Virginia Beach is back at it again with its Caribbean Music Festival which is a musical adventure set to soothing sounds of steel pan music. The casual atmosphere appeals to the island community and beach goers of all ages who enjoy being surrounded by that style and atmosphere.
Combining the rhythm of steel bands, ocean breezes and great Caribbean food, this oceanfront event is truly a representation of Paradise. It is usually held for one weekend in May and is co-produced between the Virginia Arts Festival and Beachevents.
It features over 25 high school, college and community bands from all over the United States. There are also workshops on Friday at the Convention Center led by nationally-known steel drum artists and educators.
