First, you need to have the proper stance. There are three things you want to focus on with a proper stance: balance, aiming the head, and consistency.

Balance is probably the most important part to a proper stance. Without proper balance, you may do everything else right but still mess up the shot because you had improper balance which will affect the hit causing it to go wayward.

Next, you want to focus on aiming the head in the right direction. This will help you keep the focus and more directly get the ball where you want it.

Moving on to consistency, this term is vital in many aspects of life, but specifically when it comes to your stance. Whatever you feel most comfortable with, and whatever you find to suit your body size and height the best, be sure to continue this same stance and routine each time you hit.
