There are a few simple ways you can utilize your shopping experience to make your home health life better and richer in healthy foods.
1- Support local farmers and buy local! Chances are if you have any farmland around you within a 100 mile radius, you will have farmers that you can help out by purchasing their foods rather than foods from a bigger commercialized food producer. Foods from a local farmer have a few different positive aspects. First off, you are supporting your LOCAL farmer. Not someone 5,000 miles away in a place you will never visit.
Second off, if they are local, chances are they grow organic, and if they grow organic you wont get the pesticides and chemicals that the BIGGER producers put in and on their foods. And lastly, you will be contributing to lessening global warming die to the large amounts of carbon dioxide, sulfur, fumes, and pollutants that are released into the air not only from trucks, but from company buildings.
2- Buy organic! In contrast, to conventionally grown produce that is full of toxins which are detrimental to your wellness, heart-healthy fruits and vegetables are grown without the use of detrimental pesticides or toxic plant foods. Eating organic reduces your exposure to these hazardous chemicals.
3- Don’t eat dairy products, and if you DO, make sure it is organic and not full of chemicals, hormones, fertilizers, etc. Cow’s milk is full of maturation endocrines and antibiotics that can lead to preconditions ranging from the standard cold to cancer. Try substitutes for milk such as hemp milk, almond milk or rice milk. By doing so, your grocery store will realize that it can in reality benefit by making these merchandises more readily accessible.
Every time you visit the grocery store you are ultimately putting your foot down and saying NO. No to high fructose foods, no to sugary cereals with cute little tigers on the front, no to soda pop and pink milk – sure 9ts pretty, but do you know what this is doing to your kids?!? Its not helping them at all! Hopefully over time, groceries and producers will begin to see that less people are buying crap and more people are buying heart healthy products. Hopefully this will put a stop (though it will be a slow one) to companies producing crappy food filled with stuff we shouldn’t even be putting in our bodies.
Eating heart healthy isn’t only about fast weight loss, or healthy eating or even learning what foods help you to lose weight quick – it’s about teaching your family and your kids how to take care of themselves NOW and later – when they get older. If you need help picking out what foods are the best and what ones to stay away from, you should look into a virtual trainer, nutritionist, or a dietitian that can help you and your family make better choices!
