Before deciding to support a particular charity, always check their credentials. The best charities will have a reputation for trustworthiness and organization. They will spend only a small percentage of their revenue on administration. They will also have an efficient and open accounting system. They will have a reputation for effective and worthwhile work in their particular field. Some Christian charities may focus mainly on bringing clean water and sanitation to communities in need. Others may have building projects such as schools and health clinics as their priority. Others may put babies and children at the forefront of their efforts through immunization programs and providing basic health care.

It is important to find out what each charity does and what it stands for. This way donors can offer heartfelt support to a particular set of aims that complement their own ideals and values.

It is also vital that donors find out whether the charity will offer spiritual guidance as well as material support. All Christian charities aim to make a difference, and all strive to ensure that difference affects both body and soul. While the immunization and clean-water programs may grab attention, the spiritual well-being of children in need is just as important.
