In other Toby Keith news, Forbes Magazine is reporting that the country crooner is one of the top-earning musicians of the last 12 months. Keith was tied for 10th place with Coldplay and the Black Eyed Peas, with all artists raking in $48 million. The top earner for the time period was rock act U2 with $130 million.
Toby Keith first broke in his boots in the music industry with the release of his self-titled debut album in 1993. Four songs from the record became immediate hits on the charts, including “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” “Wish I Didn’t Know Now,” “A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action” and “He Ain’t Worth Missing.”
His star power grew with the release of his sophomore album Boomtown, which featured his second number one hit on the charts titled “Who’s That Man.” The 1994 release achieved gold status thanks to the popularity of additional hit songs like “Upstairs Downtown” and “You Ain’t Much Fun.”
Keith next managed to lighten things up a little bit by offering the holiday record Christmas to Christmas. Yet if anyone thought that he was getting a little too soft with the seasonal jingles, Keith came storming back with several albums that rounded out the rest of the nineties.
The following decade Keith saw his hard work rewarded when the Academy of Country Music named him the Male Vocalist of the Year. His popularity grew even more after his forceful response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in the U.S. with the raging tune “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue.”
Now Keith has almost arrived at his 15th release. It is certainly something to celebrate considering how far he’s come since the release of his very first album back in 1993. As with his previous releases, Toby Keith’s forthcoming album will likely be full of catchy hit singles, many of which will find a place on the charts. See Keith perform live on stage at one of his upcoming gigs.
