Visit Los Angeles Annual Events
Los Angeles is one of the most popular spots to visit in the United States. It is a very large, populated city with a lot going on.
From its unique attractions to its rich history, there is always something to see. Los Angeles also hosts a variety of events.
All year long you will find festivals, celebrations and more. Starting in January all the way through December, here are the many events you will find.
No matter what time of year you go, you are sure to have an exciting time. A main event in January is the Tournament of Roses.
Millions gather to view the marching bands and to see the floral inspired floats all for the Rose Parade. Make sure you are part of the crowd this coming year as you view the spectacular parade entries.
Also in January is the Kingdom Day Parade which honors Martin Luther King Jr. as it marches down Martin Luther King Boulevard. One last January event is the Chinese New Year & Lantern Festival.
Celebrate this holiday with food, arts & crafts, carnival rides and more. Towards the end of January and sometimes into the beginning of February whale watching season starts.
There is even a Whale Fiesta to help celebrate the occasion. During this time gray whales migrate from Alaska to Mexico.
Be one of the spectators as you view these beautiful creatures. A few other February events include the Monterey Park Lantern Festival, the Golden Dragon Parade, and Mardi Gras.
Heading into March you will be able to take part in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. If you love to run, then check out the Los Angeles Marathon this month.
Lastly celebrate Easter by going to the Easter Sunrise at Hollywood Bowl or the Easter Street Fair. A few things to do in April are visit the Cherry Blossom Festival or check out the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
May is an exciting month with one of the largest Cinco de Mayo celebrations taking place in L.A. Enjoy live performances, cultural presentations and children’s activities.
May is also the month for the Memorial Day parade and festival, WorldFest, Fiesta Hermosa, and Last Remaining Seats, which gives visitors and idea of what old Hollywood was like. Heading into June Los Angeles visitors can enjoy the Los Angeles Film Festival, Shakespeare by the Sea, and the Festival Dia del Padres, which is held Father’s Day weekend each year.
If you are not sure where to celebrate the Fourth of July then head over to the Rose Bowl for AmericaFest. This event features a concert followed by a huge fireworks display.
August hosts a few unique events including the Tofu Festival, the Surf Festival, Tadacip and the AVP Manhattan Beach Open. September is a fun month because visitors can enjoy the Los Angeles County Fair.
This happens to be one of the largest county fairs in the country with plenty of entertainment, livestock, food, parades, costumed characters and carnival rides. A few other great September events include the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival, the Labor Day Festival, the Harvest Festival, a fair at MacArthur Park and a shopping extravaganza called the Fashion Circus.
In October have a great time by checking out the Ventura Harvest Festival, the Calabasas Pumpkin Festival, Oktoberfest, and the Sherman Oaks Street Fair. November has an interesting event called the Doo Dah Parade.
This parade is a parody of the Rose Bowl Parade. Spectators will see wacky floats and lots of political satire in this event.
Also in November are the Tamale Festival, the Hollywood Christmas Parade, and the Catalina Island Triathlon. Heading into December you can really celebrate the holiday season by visiting the Tropicalismo Winter Arts Gift Fair, the Cajon Classic Cruise Parade of Lights, the Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade, the Light Up the Holiday Film Series, the North Pole Snow Show, the Tournament of Lights, and the Reindeer Romp.
As you can see, Los Angeles features so many fun holiday celebrations to experience. So there you have it, the main annual events happening in this huge west coast city.
