David Sedaris Tickets – America’s Best-Loved Humorist David Sedaris Readies New Book for Fall Releas
When it comes to American humor writers, David Sedaris is always near the top of the list thanks to his best-selling collections of personal essays like Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim and, most recently, When You Are Engulfed in Flames. Titled Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary, Sedaris’ latest book is his seventh for Little, Brown and Company and is a collection of animal-themed stories such as “Hello Kitty,” in which a cynical cat is forced to attend AA meetings, and “The Toad, the Turtle, and the Duck,” in which three strangers stuck in a complaint line gripe about animal bureaucracy.
Although Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary doesn’t arrive until October, the book is already garnering praise from the press, with the Boston Globe writing, “A joy to read … Sedaris [is] a connoisseur of human nature at its worst” and People magazine saying simply of Sedaris, “He’s the best there is.” Sedaris will be reading excerpts from his latest book and answering questions from fans on his upcoming book tour, which will see the Thurbor Prize for American Humor winner visiting cities scattered across North America beginning with a Sept. 28 stop in Princeton, N.J.
David Sedaris tickets are available to see Sedaris stop in cities like Worcester, Mass.; Toronto; Washington, D.C.; Bloomington, Ind.; Atlanta, Ga.; Raleigh, N.C.; Cincinnati, Ohio; Baton Rouge, La.; Reading, Pa.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Boulder, Colo.; Santa Rosa, Calif.; New York (Harlem), N.Y.; Boston, Mass.; Las Vegas, Nev. and more through December.
Joking about the practical aspect of the Q&A segment of his appearances, Sedaris recently told InTheBend.com, “Any kind of questions you have, it’s great for that, too. If I’m having any kind of problems with my computer, I just say, ‘Does anybody here have a Macbook Air? You have priority signing, come right to the front and show my how to do this or that.'”
Anyone who has read David Sedaris’ books and essays knows that the Sedaris family is one quirky and funny bunch. Case in point: his sister Amy is the brains behind Comedy Central’s Strangers with Candy. A number of years ago, David and Amy Sedaris began writing plays together under the moniker “The Talent Family.” The Book of Liz is one of the fruits of the siblings’ labor, and Piper Theater, the al fresco theater company in summer resident at the Old Stone House in Brooklyn, N.Y., has abandoned its usual Shakespeare fare in favor for the Sedaris Family’s play this summer.
Speaking about the show, Kim Marier, director of the historic Park Slope venue, told YourName.com, “The Sedarises are two interesting voices that seemed like they would appeal to a Brooklyn audience.” The Book of Liz chronicles the trials and tribulations of Sister Elizabeth Donderstock of the Amish-like community of Squeamish. Liz’s central character traits are her constant perspiration and ability to create delectable cheese balls, and the play tells about what happens when she leaves Squeamish when her cheese ball-making duties are taken away from her.
