Rihanna seems to succeed at just about anything she attempts, from genre-bending music to cutting-edge fashion. Because of her can’t-be-stopped persona, it is likely that playing Battleship with the star would end with her opponent admitting, “You sunk my battleship.” If she isn’t already familiar with the famous game, Rihanna will have to brush up on it, because Variety reports that she is set to star in a film based on the famous game. Anyone who has played the game may be wondering how it would become a film, but it certainly has the cast to make it a hit.

The film will be directed by Peter Berg and filming is expected to commence soon. A tentative release date for the film is May of 2012, but that could inevitably change once the filming is underway. Other stars set for the movie are Alexander Skarsgard and Taylor Kitsch. Skarsgard appears on HBO’s hit vampire series True Blood and in films like Zoolander and other foreign flicks. Kitsch is perhaps best known for his role in the television series Friday Night Lights. He has also had roles in films like X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Snakes on a Plane and John Tucker Must Die.

Just because she is trying to become a multi-faceted star doesn’t mean Rihanna’s music career is taking a hit. In fact, she is as hot as ever. She recently appeared as a guest on Eminem’s track “Love the Way You Lie,” and the pair filmed a video for the track, directed by Joseph Kahn. The video will star actors Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan as the dysfunctional couple at the heart of the song. “Love the Way You Lie” appears on Eminem’s massively successful 2010 album Recovery.

Both Eminem and Rihanna know more than a little about tough relationships. Eminem has had a tumultuous on-again, off-again relationship with his ex-wife Kim, who he has written many tracks about. Rihanna’s love woes also made the news recently because of the domestic violence of her ex-boyfriend (and fellow music star) Chris Brown. Because they were on opposite ends of dysfunctional relationships, Rihanna revealed to Access Hollywood that the song had real authenticity because of the two stars’ experiences.

Rihanna also talked about the rap star, who surprised fans by taking the stage and Rihanna’s tour stop in Los Angeles on July 21. Rihanna gushed about Eminem, “He pretty much just broke down the cycle of domestic violence and it’s something that a lot people don’t have a lot of insight on, so this song is a really, really powerful song and it touches a lot of people.” Perhaps fans with Rihanna tickets will get a chance Brand Viagra to see Eminem for another surprise spot on her current Last Girl on Earth Tour.

Rihanna’s career has been punctuated by top solo hits as well as star-studded collaborations. She has worked with stars like T.I., Jay-Z and Kanye West, and she already has another top collaborator in mind. She revealed to the Daily Record that her dream collaboration is Lady Gaga, and fans would likely love to hear the pairing as well.
