Make Money Blogging | 3 Ways to Get Started
Once your blog is set up and you’re getting a good amount of daily visitors, other wise know as traffic you may decide you want to make money from your blog.
I say after your blog is set up and receiving a good amount of daily traffic because without traffic no matter how many blog money making strategies you use, you won’t be able to generate any cash.
You need eye balls looking at your blog to see your ads. No eyeballs no money!
So here are my top recommendations to make money blogging.
1. Build your blog in one specific niche. Don’t build a blog about every hobby you have an interest in. If you want to blog about a variety of interests set up a network of blogs. Though I recommend only working on one blog at a time as it takes quite a bit of work to get them full of quality content helpful to your readers.
Once your niche blog is up and running you can sell products or services which pay you a commission for every sale you make.
Make sure you pick related products that match the theme or subject of your niche.
You can sell products through your blog as an Amazon affiliate or even Ebay affiliate. These two companies allow you to easily add in a side bar widget or plugin to display products related to your blog.
The widget adds tracking code to record the activity of visitors sent from your blog. This code ensures you get paid a commission for every sale made from your visitors.
Amazon and Ebay affiliate commissions are however quite small so you will need a lot of referrals or visiting traffic to make a decent amount of cash for your efforts.
2. Another way to make money from your blog is to sell advertising space, again you will need a lot of existing traffic so the advertiser gets a good return on investment and continues advertising on your blog. There are a number of wordpress themes that have a advertisement box designed into the template. If your theme doesn’t have this feature built in there are a number of widgets available to allow you to easily add an advertising space to your side bars.
Blog advertising is big business, there are even agencies out there that you can sign up with to fill your advertising spaces, you are then paid per lead sent through to the advertiser. I seen private advertisers pay a much higher amount per advert displayed than the ad agencies pay, so as long as you have a good amount of daily visitors seek private advertisers to fill your advertising space.
3. Google Adsense is another way to monetize your blog, though the price paid by Google per click of an ad on your site can be quite low. However if you are in an expensive niche where Google’s pay per click cost is high the amount paid to you per click of an ad on your blog will also be high in comparison.
A common question I hear is “Where is the best place to position adsense ads on my blog?” Through my own testing it seems that the best position to place adsense ads on a blog is dead centre of the page. Though this may not be practical for most blog owners it’s the position I’ve found to work best.
