How To Have Powerful Golf Swing
Everyone who plays golf knows the importance of having a good golf swing speed so that they can hit the ball straighter, further and with more accuracy. However, many amatuer and weekend golfers, no matter how hard they try, they can’t seem to improve on their swing techniques.
The golf swing may look like a simple movement to an observer, but there are many factors involved in order to achieve that all powerful swing speed. For example, you will need great hand-eye coordination, good flexibility, sense of balance, skillful swings and good physical fitness level to achieve a good swing. In short, it all boils down to just perfecting the biomechanics of the swing and your golf swing speed will improve tremendously.
So what is the biomechanics of the golf swing? Simply put, it relates to what is happening with your body while you are swinging the golf club. Although the exact biomechanics may not be quite so simple to comprehend, nevertheless it is useful to know about what goes on during a golf swing so that you can improve your swing speed.
Preparing to swing a golf club is just as important as actually executing the movement itself. Needless to say, but I must still say it to emphasize its importance is that you need to make sure that you have the correct grip of the club and the correct stance. Do make sure both your top hand and your bottom hand are in good and correct alignment.
Then when you are preparing to hit the golf ball, you need to make sure that your posture and stance are correct. Furthermore, you also need to make sure that your body is in alignment with the target so that the ball can soar towards the target accurately.
When you are in a position to hit the ball, your feet stance should be about your shoulder width apart. Your body weight should be distributed evenly on your feet. Your shoulders should be in a forward position over your toes and your hips should move back just over your heels.
Now that you are in the position to take the swing, the biomechanics you need to concentrate on are the backswing, downswing, impact and the follow through.
The backswing is when you bring the club back in preparation to swing it forward to hit the ball. It is during the back swing that you should be rotating your spine, hips, shoulders and knees. When the backswing has taken its course, it is time for the downswing to begin. This is the transition between and backswing and the downswing.
During the downswing stage, all your energy and motion that was going backward during the backswing must now go forward. You want to create torque in your lower body to transfer the energy into your upper body and then into the golf club powerfully. The energy from the club will then be transferred into the ball at the point of impact.
At the point of impact with the ball, you will follow the swing through. The impact is so brief and powerful that it cannot be seen with the naked eye. Swoooooosh! That surely feels good, doesn’t it?
Now, this motion cannot be perfected if your core muscles are weak and stiff. Also it must be executed with good timing and momentum. This is why professional golfers include golf fitness training exercises into their workout routine to strengthen and condition the specific muscles for the perfect swing speed.
The biomechanics of a perfect golf swing is easy to explain here in words, but is very difficult to master as it requires many muscle memories and perfect coordination of the muscles and joints from the various parts of your body. That is why in a good golf fitness training program, golf swing speed specific muscles are being worked on to get these coordinations right so that there will be improvements after improvements.
