Hence, the best way to prevent surfer’s ear is to avoid surfing in cold waters because the chances of suffering from surfer’s ear is more likely. However, this does not happen if you are surfing in warm waters in tropical regions. Hence, always make a point that the water you are surfing in is not too cold for your body because the body starts reacting without your consent and problems like surfer’s ear can come up. Apart from the cold water there are many other factors like the velocity of the wind, age factor, individual bone growth and time spent in water which may play important role in developing surfer’s ear.
There are various options like silicone ear plugs or advanced wet suits that you can purchase and wear it while you are surfing in cold water. These gadgets are designed to keep the cold water away from entering your ear canal and therefore they keep away problems like surfer’s ear. You can even wear specialized swim caps while you are surfing to keep the cold water at a distance. However, if you still feel that you have some problems with your ears than immediately get it diagnosed before the situation gets worse.
