She was totally hot and you got her phone number at the bar last night. But it has happened in the past where you have called her and she has flaked. Or you have set up a date and she doesn’t show. Or she ignores your text messages. This has happened to the best of us.

There are a few techniques you can learn that can help prevent a girl from flaking on you. The most important way to prevent flaking is to make sure that your interaction with the girl is rock solid before you leave her the first time.

The best pick up artists in the world will tell you that if you have a very short interaction – say five minutes long – the chances of the girl flaking on you are very high. Why? Because you had no chance to develop a relationship, to forge a bond, to let her qualify you. There was no time for any of these things to happen.

So the number one most important thing you can do to prevent a girl from flaking on you is to make sure when you meet her you have the very best interaction you can. You develop and forge a bond and you make sure there is a connection before you even think about asking for her number.

Now once you have done that there are a few ways to further prevent flaking. It is always a good idea for you to put your number in her phone to make sure the digits are the right ones. In addition, when you do this, put in a cute nickname or something that will catch her eye when you do text or call her. Otherwise, she will seem some blank number and not know who it is. So, first put your name in and then second, maybe use a cute nickname.

Another great technique is to call or text her right away. Make it a little game. Call and tell her about the cute girl you just met. This way you are ensuring that you each have the right phone numbers, but also you are somewhat getting that first phone call out of the way — getting that awkwardness over with while you can still have that first day chemistry.

As far as when you should first call or text her, advice on this is all over the board. Some guys say text her that same night. Other guys say don’t wait past one day, while some women will tell you it increases your value to wait three days because it shows you are a busy guy and leaves them wondering if you are or not interested. So on that one you are going to have to use your best judgment.

But if you want to decrease the possibility that you will have a girl flake on you remember that the most important thing you can do is make sure that initial interaction is rock solid. Then make sure you have the right number and that she knows it is you when you call.
