Whipped cream can be purchased from the store easily, but where is the fun in that? It would be more delightful and cost efficient to make your own dessert topping using a cream whipper. It is very easy and it ensures that your cream topping always comes out fresh and ready for your ultimate indulgence.
As a responsible dessert lover however, you also need to ensure that you are taking good care of the main tool that produces your beloved whipped cream. Here are some maintenance tips to keep your whipper and cream charger in tiptop condition.
Do not use grainy ingredients.
Use only soluble ingredients in your cream dispenser. Liquid creamers are best. If you must sweeten the mix, use confectioners sugar which is finer than the granulated variety. Solid ingredients are not easily dissolved and can affect the quality of the outcome, and may clog the nozzle of the dispenser.
Fill the bottle to only to three-fourths of its capacity.
Never fill the dispenser with ingredients up to the brim. Ideally, the cream whipper bottle should only be three-fourths full to make room for the gas from the cream charger, which makes the cream fluffy.
Always remove and wash the nozzle after use.
After you have decorated desserts and topped ice cream or coffee with cream to your heart’s content, remove the nozzle and wash it with hot, sudsy water. If there is leftover cream and you need to refrigerate the dispenser for storage, never leave an unwashed nozzle on.
Release the gas before opening a used dispenser.
When you’ve spent all the whipped cream and you need to open the whipper for washing, make sure that you release all the gas inside beforehand. Just press the lever on top to do so.
Dismantle the cream whipper before washing.
Disassemble the whipper and wash each part thoroughly with hot, sudsy water, then rinse. For the charger, simply wipe it with a cleaning cloth and keep dry.
Let it dry before storing.
Make sure that all the parts have dried completely before placing them in storage. Do not reassemble, just store it dismantled.
Aside from the saving money on commercially sold whipped creams, another wonderful reason to make your own dessert topping at home is the fact that homemade whipped cream tastes so much better than the store-bought variety. So go ahead and whip up a storm of desserts, and don’t forget to follow these easy maintenance steps for your whipper and charger.
