1. The POS Offer!
I’ve been going to a dentist for well over 30 years. And you want to know something?
I’ve been asked only 3 times if I’d like to re-book my next appointment.
Huh?
No wonder why so many dental offices are as barren as a hot Nevada desert.
To rebook someone, all you have to do is ask. It really is that simple.
And don’t ask your patient if they would like to re-book.
Ask them when they would like to rebook.
These are two entirely different questions. That will get you entirely different results.
This technique is called the “point of sale” offer and is really powerful. Not because it is some flashy marketing gadget.
But because it’s simple. It’s direct. And it’s easy.
To implement this solution, simply type up a short script. And have your receptionist follow your script to re-book your patients.
Make sure you print this script off. And hang it where your receptionist can easily see it.
To “pump this up” a little, give your receptionist a financial incentive for every patient that gets re-booked.
2. The Bounce Back Offer!
That being said, what if your patient does not re-book?
No problem, I’ve got that covered too.
If your patient does not re-book, then pop a “bounce back offer” in the mail within 48 hours after their appointment.
And in your “bounce back offer”… offer something they could not say no to.
Like a free whitening tray.
Or a free electric toothbrush.
Or a free report.
Or something.
And to get their free gift, your patient has to agree to something you want them to do.
Like scheduling their next appointment.
Or, setting up a “free smile consultation”… which gives you a chance to promote high-end cosmetic dentistry.
Or something along these lines.
The ultimate goal is to get your patient to fill out your bounce back offer by a certain date and then fax it back… mail it back… or bring it back to your office.
3. The 3 Step Follow Up!
So what if your POS and Bounce Back offers both fail?
Well, don’t give up just yet.
Some of your patients will need a gentle little “nudge”.
And a nifty 3-step follow-up postcard campaign will do the trick.
You can do this with a couple of 4×6 postcards, mailed out 15 days after your bounce back offer goes out.
On each postcard, repeat your offer… making it a little “sweeter” on each successive postcard.
Make sure you don’t give up on your patients. And don’t be afraid to sell your services.
Remember, oftentimes there is no need to get fancy with your dental office marketing. It is the simple things that can be the most effective.
