How to Lose Weight and Keep it Off
Every year, millions of us go on diets and lose millions of pounds of excess fat. The problem is that very few of us are successful at keeping the weight off in the long term. It seems that we struggle more with keeping weight off over the long haul even more so than losing weight in the first place.
Figuring out why you fail to maintain your weight loss goals can be challenging. Many factors come into play. It might be due to poor dietary choices or an unhealthy lifestyle. Maybe you don’t get enough physical exercise on a daily basis. Whatever the reason, it is important to figure out what it is so you can work out a solution to the problem.
The Fatal Flaw Dieters Make
People tend to believe that once the weight has come off; keeping it off will be easy. They think they can resume their usual, normal lifestyle and not worry about the weight coming back. This is far from the truth however. On an intellectual level, most people know they have to eat right and live the right kind of lifestyle if they want to stay trim but knowing that emotionally and acting on it is very difficult to do.
Normal eating habits are not good ones if they allowed you to get fat once before. If you go back to that way of eating, you will get fat again in pretty short order. There is nothing magical about losing weight that makes you fat-proof. You can and will gain the weight back if you eat the wrong kind of diet.
Keep Weekly Tabs On Your Progress
When you were a teen, you could probably eat whatever you wanted and still maintain a trim figure. However, there are very few people who are so lucky to be able to do that once adulthood sets in. Staying nice and trim takes work, but it really isn’t too difficult to do.
You can monitor your fat gaining status by checking your stats regularly. This could take the form of weighing yourself, maintaining a certain clothing size or regularly taking body measurements. Body measurements are probably the most meaningful since clothing sizes vary and your weight can fluctuate from time to time.
Every week you check in on the same day and measure your progress. Try to be as consistent as possible. Use the same scale. Weight yourself at the same time and take your measurements in the same places.
Never, ever allow yourself to gain more than an inch in your measurements or more than five pounds in weight without taking immediate action. Never tell yourself it is okay and you will take it off eventually.
Love Your New Way Of Living
When you are consistent, you become self disciplined and these gives you pride and self confidence. Your new found self mastery will further your personal growth. You will look and feel great and have more time in your life.
You’ll find you will have much more energy and this will allow you to get more done and be more productive.
Your mind will be much sharper too and this allows you to focus, learn faster, and get more out of each hour of your day.
Your immunity improves so you can ward off sickness much more readily. When you get sick less often you will have more time to be productive or spend on leisure pursuits.
A healthy diet is filled with veggies, fruits, seeds, nuts, low fat dairy foods, lean meat, and complex carbs. If you prepare your meals right, eating these healthy foods can be enjoyable and satisfying. In fact, a healthy diet can be much more satisfying than giving into your cravings and just eating to please your tongue.
You don’t have to eliminate sweets and snack foods for the rest of your live. You can have them on special occasions. The trick is to make sure you don’t fall into the trap of kidding yourself into thinking you can eat them more often than you should.
