The Secret to Superior MLM Relationships

Most network marketers develop their downline with warm market, lists, and cold calling. Since warm market leads already have a relationship established, this artlcle will spend time discussing the other types of leads.

The first mindset you must eliminate is that you urgently need this person to join your business today. You will quickly become a very frustrated individual if you operate this way and alienate a lot of potential business partners as well. If you are asking for several hundred dollars up front, it is understandable that a stranger is going to be hesitant to part with his money on your word alone. Get the desperation out of your mind and voice. Unless you sound confident and relaxed, you will never convince your lead that you are going to the top and can get him (or her) there too. If someone is destined for your business, it will happen in time. It certainly will not happen if you sound like you are more interested in his money than his future with your company.

Anyone who has been in network marketing for awhile has probably had the following experience: You join a business and your sponsor, who now has your money, is not available for additional training or questions. He is probably getting a commission on the lead purchases he recommended to you as well. After floundering for a few months, you decide to cut your losses and move on. I am certain anyone who has had this happen will tell you this is no way to conduct a successful business and gives the entire industry a bad reputation. To avoid getting burned again, what can you do?
You can recruit with the intent to develop a long term partnership with that person. You can recruit with the intent to develop your skills and teach your team how to do the same. You can recruit with the distant future in mind that has you and your downline working and sharing successful tools and techniques.

Take responsibility for your downline’s success. If your upline leaders aren’t leading, then learn all you can and become the leader. Make yourself the driving force in your team. Research and answer questions from your downline. Help them make their businesses successful too and all of you will prosper. And … the more successful your team becomes, the more valuable you become. Not to mention that your income will be better off for your efforts.

In short, if you become the person who is known for his mentoring and educational skills, you will soon have all the leads and downline members you will need. It takes some work and determination to acquire the knowledge you will need, but the rewards will be great and you will have acquired some great mlm relationships.
