Types of Weddings – Which Do You Dream Of?

There are several types of weddings and you can have a hard time trying to decide what kind you want. Sometimes the decision is out of your hands, like when you are on a very tight budget. Other times, you may just prefer to avoid the hustle and bustle of a big wedding. Whatever you choose, it is your big day so you should do what makes you happy. In general, there are four types of weddings: very formal, formal, semi-formal, and informal.

A very formal wedding is a society affair. Even the guests are required to wear formal attire. Venues are typically large churches or luxury hotels. You can expect to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a very formal wedding and will probably need the assistance of a professional wedding planner to pull it off.

A formal wedding is similar to the very formal variety except it is smaller, less luxurious, and therefore more affordable. This is the most common type of wedding and it is traditionally held in a church and the bride wears a formal gown. This wedding includes all of the traditional aspects of a wedding including a decorated church or other venue, formal wedding party attire, a reception with wedding table decorations, gifts for the bridal party, dance with wedding band, and wedding favours.

A semi-formal wedding is usually held during the day and is normally a small, private affair. The bride usually has fewer attendants and while there is a reception, the food usually consists of finger foods rather than full catering and cash bar. A semi formal wedding gives many of the advantages found with a formal wedding but is much more affordable.

An informal wedding is the least costly option and is usually reserved for close friends and family of the wedding couple. The only people present may be the bride, groom, and witnesses. An informal wedding can take place just about anywhere from a wedding chapel to the beach or even your home.

The type of wedding you choose will depend a lot on the stage of life you are in. If you are young and this is your first wedding, you will probably be more excited about having a very formal or formal wedding, especially if your parents are footing the bill. Older couples working on their second or third wedding, traditionally choose quieter affairs that require less fuss and expense.

However, keep in mind, it will be your big day so you should do what you what. If it has always been your dream to have a big formal wedding, then you deserve it, no matter what your age. On the other hand, if you want to have an informal wedding with just you and your best friends, then you shouldn’t let anyone try and pressure you into having a very formal wedding. Formal weddings take a lot of work so you should be committed to seeing it through or you will just make yourself miserable.
