College Essays: Explaining the Expository Essay
\”The car runs on fuel”. Really we didn’t know that….oh wait, I just make full my car with gas this morning! You might be thinking that an expository essay is about telling straight forwarded that this is a white cat, the end. Well this college essay doesn’t work that way.
When writing a college essay especially an Expository Essay, you need to explain the, each step that are to be taken by you. You can’t make a direct statement, or you will be ending directly with an F. In expository essay you have to “expose” the truth behind the topic, whether they are good or bad. In expository essay you can’t add your own opinion; your job is just to expose both sides of the coin.
To begin with your college essay, you should be a complete understanding of the topic itself, and that is done by research and brainstorming. If you aren’t familiar with that topic, then don’t bother to write that college essay as it will confuse you more. There are below most important things those have to be remembered
1) Focus.
2) Synchronization of the points
3) Factual Details
You may get confused here but I will explain it in further later. Let’s begin your college essay.
The beginning is the customary introduction and You have to give the topics background but only the main details, no need to go farther, it will only make your college essay more irrelevant, the reader doesn’t have time to read the entire history he just wants solid facts.
After the introduction comes the hard part, exposure. In the coming paragraphs you need to explain properly that the topic is really what about and how its connected to various other fields, topics etc. don’t forget to add facts, figures, and excerpts of recognized people, it will only make your college essay more strong for an A+
When writing an essay, you have a lot of data in hand, and while writing you may get lost and forget to bring together, make synchronized paragraphs and add factual details along the way. If a model is necessary to properly explain the topic then draw one, all science fields require a model and this college essay will require one as well. You can add an index so that when the reader starts to read he will at least understand the flow of your college essay. You can make the flow of your college essay ascending or descending, meaning giving the strong fact first and then connecting it later with minute details or vice versa.
You may think to add creativity like add your own comments, well don’t do that, the expository essay is about exposing not some debate.
The conclusion is always about recap, summarizing and cramming the details in to a one header pointer. In the conclusion add the finale of your topic, like what is the future, what do scholars say about it, what type of and how much research has been done in that field etc. Don’t forget to revise and proof read your college essay one more time
