Cutting Edge Treatments Keep Teeth in Excellent Order
It is obvious that most of us will require some work to be done on our teeth at some point in our lives. If we are lucky and extremely careful of course, these teeth may be with us until we are no more. However, for the majority of people, having some work done on the teeth is like maintaining the family car. With the car, we take it in every few months or so just to make sure that everything is as it should be. For those who want to check to see what is available in the way of treatments these days, try looking at ‘orthodontist’, or ‘cosmetic dentist’ on the internet to get a list of local specialists.
The kinds of treatments available today are very far advanced to what was available many years ago of course. In those days, yanking out a tooth was about all the specialist could do to relieve the pain. These days though, and with all the scientific breakthroughs that have been made, there is a whole host of new innovations that can be tried out.
For example, there is one procedure that most of us hate. This is listening to the drill when the expert is advancing on us to scrape the bad stuff out of our teeth. There are new inventions now though that let out a high-powered stream of grit which knocks away the decay without having to have that bone rattling drill working down inside the tooth. Indeed, even having an impression made, with all that gooey stuff inside the mouth, is now no longer necessary since there are 3D cameras which can give a virtual map of the inside of the mouth.
Most people would have a gag reflex when the sticky impression material was introduced to the mouth but this is now no longer necessary. Of course, an impression of the affected teeth or gum area is needed so that replacements can be made, but these days, the comfort of the patient is top of the list for sure.
Tooth colored fillings too are common these days since no one wants to show off the gray metal that used to suffice for this job. It has also been found that the metal in these fillings can cause some health problems too so having them removed is probably a good idea at some point.
One of the biggest discoveries of this century is a crystal material which activates the growth gene in teeth. Yes, it is finally here, but perhaps only in the research stages at present. Scientists have discovered a way to regenerate teeth so that fillings could also become a thing of the past. Although they are experimenting on the fillings in teeth at present, there is nothing to stop the whole tooth being replaced in this way eventually.
So, whether it is a root canal, cap or crown, there is a definitive answer to replacing broken and diseased teeth these days, but only if the right expert is found!
