Google’s Algorithm Change: Who Will Be Affected?

98% of people searching the Internet use Goggle. This literally makes Google the most powerful site in the world. They have the power to sell any product they like; they have the power to bankrupt almost every company they want; and they have the power to make anyone they choose a millionaire. Of course to have power and to use it are completely different things. Most of the people have power to kill another human being but most of them don’t use this power. Google also claims that they don’t use their powers. As an Internet marketing blog writer I believe they really don’t use their powers. They are working to make the Internet a better place for the seekers of knowledge.

First two letters of SEO is search engine. The real meaning of search engine optimization is making the web sites more search engine friendly; helping the search engine and the site speak the same language. However in real life, SEO specialists create back links using articles. Some of them use the same article playing with the wording and creating fifty from one. This, results in hundreds of thousands of low quality articles created to fool search engines, mainly Google. When we search the Internet for a keyword Google brings real information along with these thrash articles and we waste our time trying to choose the really useful ones.

To create back links you can buy new domains and create new sites with these domains writing content and creating links to your target site. You can also use hundreds of free article submission sites. Google’s new algorithm is designed to filter out these low quality texts and their links. The sites with low quality content are called content farms. Some of these sites proudly claim that they publish one million articles a month. This means the Internet is expended one million low quality articles a month from only one content farm.

Google also published an extension for its web browser Google Chrome named Personal Blocklist. People using this extension can block certain domain names from their search results. The blocked sites are also reported to Google as a database. Google claims that the new algorithm is not using any data from this cumulated database. However they also say that their new algorithm and statistics from the Personal Blacklist database are more than 80% compatible.

The new algorithm is only used in the US searches of Google. They seem to be tuning it for global use. The web sites with high quality, original content have nothing to worry about. SEO companies who post real press releases and publish high quality articles in decent places also have nothing to worry about. The visitor numbers and search engine rankings of content farms have dropped about 30% since the algorithm change. So those who need to worry, they know who they are.

An internet marketing blog should not be a site to teach tricks to fool search engines. It must give useful information. You can fool the search engines only until the next algorithm change.
