Benefits and Problems That Foreign Workers Experience
Foreign workers are people who work in other countries where they are not citizens. Many people do this for several reasons most of which suit their needs both financially and socially. Some of these reasons are listed below.
First of all it is due to higher paying jobs offered in the foreign country. In most cases people go to work in a foreign country because it offers high paying jobs than the country they belong to. This mainly happens to people living in the developing countries. Their countries cannot afford to pay good salaries to professionals due to a deteriorating or stagnant economy. Therefore the citizens move to already developed countries which offer better salaries for the same jobs.
Availability of high employment rates in the developed countries also leads to the increase of foreign workers. Many of these countries have a lot of job opportunities to offer. This is due to the large number of companies and lack of enough personnel especially on the lower ranks in the industry. This leads to importation of work force so as to enable the efficient running of industries and companies.
Also some people go to work in foreign countries due to lack of specialized and professional labor in those countries. This happens mostly in developing countries. Most of them do not have skilled labor to operate in some sectors or work on major projects. So they employ foreigners who have the expertise to run these projects, companies or sectors.
Poor working conditions in the country where one is a citizen can also lead a person to go and work in another country. Poor working conditions include things like use of outdated machinery at work, bad work ethics in the country and tribalism or nepotism at work. If the condition in the work place is intimidating and unsuitable to one they move to other countries where they can enjoy using the latest technology and work ethics.
Another reason is poor living conditions in their country. Some countries do not have proper housing for workers or in which workers can live. The houses can be situated very far from the work places or in unhygienic conditions, the roads and other infrastructure can be in very poor condition and finally basic necessities like electricity and water can be scarce or not in constant supply due to the municipal councils neglect. These poor conditions can certainly lead one to go and look for employment in a foreign country.
Finally high living standards compared to the salary of the citizens can lead to migration of labor. The cost of living becomes high due to increase in the prices of basic commodities like food, housing, water, electricity, health services and education.
If the cost of these things goes up and the salaries remain the same it means that the citizens cannot afford to live comfortably therefore they opt to leave and go to settle in other countries. By doing this they end up becoming foreign workers in those countries.
