Clutter, Away You Go!

Clutter is an ultimate depressant. Isn\’t true? Who will be cheered up upon seeing piles and piles of clothes, shoes, toys, knick and knacks and things clogging up the house? No one for sure. Get rid of the pack rat in you and transform your house into a new, refreshed, clean haven.

TALK TO YOURSELF
Collecting things is fun but there is the saying that too much is bad. Examine and ask yourself why you just cannot get rid of your things. Sometimes, people collect things because of an underlying issue within themselves. It is best to talk to a friend or a professional about these issues in order to fix or get rid of them for good. Because if they are not solved, you will be returning to the same habits again after getting rid of your clutter.

THE SPACE WASTED
Take good care of your home and envision what you can do with the space once the clutter is cleared out. This will surely inspire you to thrive hard.

GET SOME HELP
Get your family and friends to help you tidy up. Two, three or even eight heads are always better than one. You can reward them with a favor or a lovely dinner or snack that you have prepared after the work is done.

GET GOING
Prepare three boxes that are labeled: GIVE AWAY, TO KEEP and LATER.

The \”give away\” box is for things that are going to charity. Opt to give to charity, you will give to others in need and it will make you feel better about yourself. Ask your charity if they are in 501 C status. You can ask for a receipt for your donations and offset it from your tax charges. It is true when they say: \”Good things come from giving.\” — So keep giving!

The \”keep\” box is where you will place things that you will actually keep using. Remember to clean them first before using them again as they may have accumulated bacteria growth while lying on your floor or other surfaces in your house.

The \”later\” box is for things that you either don\’t need any more, things that you can\’t decide what to do with and things to sell.

Tip # 1: Don\’t throw away your things just yet. Opt to sell them on eBay. There are a lot of people out there who really buy broken or outdated things. Take good pictures of them and be honest with your descriptions to avoid misunderstanding with your potential buyers.

Tip # 2: Have a garage sale. It\’s a sure fire way to get rid of your stuff and earn some money while doing so.

Side Tip: Post your garage sale dates on the local newspaper and do some flyers to get people\’s attention ahead of time.

Tip # 3: Recycle your clutter. Make a new quilt with all your old ones or make a collage with all the shells and sand that you have acquired from your latest beach trip. The general idea is to turn your trash into art. There just might be an artist in you. You can even sell them off and make some money out of it. Art + money is good.

Tip # 4: Surely there are still things that you just can\’t decide what to do with. Put them on a box that is labeled \”time deposits\”. Date this box and go over them monthly. Research shows that if you are still unable to use them again within a year\’s time, you will never opt to use them again.

CLEAN IT UP
Have a general cleaning in your house once the clutter is gone. This will completely sanitize you home. After this step, you will soon realize what you can do with all the space in your house. Cleanliness = happiness — always.

Clutter is never, ever necessary in someone\’s home. Clear out your clutter and give and sell all of those things that you just don\’t need anymore. It will make you a changed person from head to toe. Clean up your house and make a change now.
