The old tungsten style bulbs really give off a yellow light which is not too great to work under. Fluorescents, on the other hand, not only throw light further, they have a whiter light making it possible to see things better. A constant humming noise can really distract people from working for sure. However, the people most benefiting from this new style are those who have visual disturbance migraines or epilepsy. Both suffered excruciating headaches or seizures due to the flickering and some had to give up work because of this.

Of course, it goes without saying that those who are unsure of what they are doing should leave it to a professional electrician to do this work since the consequences could be dire. However, that being said, if the instructions are very clear, as they should be given that these are the people who produce them, then there should be no problem in changing them at all.
