Professional Exterminators Needed to Hold Pests at Bay

There are many exterminators who can come in and inspect premises to see what kind of pest is invading the place. In fact, this could be anything from termites and cockroaches to rodents and ants, all will bring their own kind of problems for sure so experts have to be called if there is any hope of keeping them out. Some will use the more traditional methods to control the pests, and some may well use something like Orkin to hold them at bay.

Subterranean termites will certainly need a water source to keep going. When they are above ground, they will build tunnels from the earth so that their bodies do not dry out. This is how they travel from place to place and is also one of the signs that there is an infestation. If the tube like structure is dried out, then probably there is no more activity there. To check on this, one must brush away an inch or two and see how fast it is rebuilt. Some colonies will also swarm after five years or so. This means that they produce a lot of winged variants so that the termites can fly off and start another colony elsewhere. If anyone notices a lot of winged creatures flying around, or they find just lots of wings dropped within reach of the home, or inside the home on occasion, then this is the time to call in the experts since these critters will be setting up home here for sure.

The colony is on a constant search for food, this is the wooden structures within the house and this is what does all the damage. It is the cellulose that they are after and they leave beams and furniture hollowed out and very weak once they have eaten their fill.

One of the ways is to form a complete barrier around the building. This can be done in several ways but the most well know is to have a trench dug in a complete circle, and deep enough to catch these munching machines, and pouring in one chemical or another. This essentially creates a barrier that they will not cross and is the generally accepted method to stop their advancing to the house itself.

Another method is to have the foundation drilled every two feet or so and chemicals poured in before the holes are sealed up again. Both these methods are very disruptive but the garden will suffer greatly if the trench solution is used.

Feeding tubes are also another way to hold these creatures at bay and, although this can work out quite expensive, they are left there permanently so that the poison bait can be replaced regularly even over the years. This method is often used around historic buildings and such so that nothing is damaged in the process. In fact, if anyone has noticed small round caps protruding from sidewalks around these kinds of buildings, it is the feeding stations already mentioned above. It is a clever way to look after ancient artifacts, for sure.
