Interactive white boards are a modern invention that has really revolutionized the world of presentations in any form. For those who are not familiar with interactive white boards they are quite simply a board much like a projection screen that one can hook up to their computer and run programs on. Not only can they link up their own computer so that it projects onto the interactive white board screen but they can also have students \”write\” on the board with a special pen. When the pen is removed the interactive white board senses this and activates a sensor that links the pen to the board. If someone simply touches the pen to the screen they can write or draw on the board electronically. Once the person is finished writing on the interactive white board then they can erase all of the work that they have done and start over if they so wish to do so.

These interactive white boards are a fairly new gadget for the school systems to utilize within the classroom. Interactive white boards are far more interesting to watch and operate that the traditional chalk boards. While they are more expensive interactive white boards are modern technology that is very simple to operate. Teachers can simply load up the application that they wish to use for the days lessons and move on from there. For older students the interactive white boards are very helpful as they can take notes at their own pace rather than having to quickly write down information before the teacher has to erase it from the chalkboard to make more room. Quizzes can also be given and students can answer true or false and multiple choice questions by using a clicker linked to the interactive board. There are even children as young as kindergarten who are able to experience interactive white boards when they first enter school. When interactive white boards are used within school classrooms they frequently are replacing the more traditional chalkboards or dry erase boards that many of us grew up using.

Interactive white boards are very helpful in many aspects of both the educational as well as the professional world. Many modern corporations have been using interactive white boards for several years now. The first interactive white boards were introduced to the public in 1991. However, the technology at the time was much more expensive than many were looking to spend. Over time this technology and the white board itself became more affordable. Many powerful businesses and corporations now use the technology in everyday meetings.

There are various types of software that one can use with the interactive white boards. For corporations there is software that ranges from conferencing software to a software that can link multiple laptops or computers together on the interactive white board at once. There is no doubt that the interactive white board has changed the world of both business and education for the better. Interactive white boards are the next step in modern technology.
