It can take quite a long time to wait for the bus to arrive; it’s usually more productive time wise if you get to drive around in your own vehicle. Los Angeles is a very large area and you may even have to commute from L.A to San Fernando Valley, which may take quite a while. If you have tons of auditions in a day you don’t want to waste time walking to the bus stop waiting for the bus to arrive; you need your own car.

It is quite easy to get lost on the way to an important audition and you cannot afford to get lost considering how much competition there is in this town. One must have item for any actor is a navigation system; it allows you to always find your way no matter where you are. Most cars such as Honda ones offer a navigation system as an option. However, portable ones are more affordable and just as good. A good one that I personally recommend is the Garmin; it’s touch-screen and so easy to use. It’s small, light and gives you audible turn by turn directions. It is so handy; it can pin point your exact location and it is very easy to use. It’s a good idea to get a case for it and to carry it around with you because if you leave it in your car it can get stolen.

Always be prepared with outfit changes in the cargo area. You never know if you will get a last minute audition and you might not be able to make it on time if you go home to change. You might want to keep a few different styles of clothes in the trunk such as upscale and casual. You can change in any public desperate or even in your car if necessity calls for it.

In order to prevent costly repairs, take good care of your vehicle and maintain a relationship with a mechanic that you trust. Make sure your tires are in good condition; you do not want to have your tire blow up when you’re on the way to an important casting call or meeting.
