Boosting Your Metabolism Rate
By making a few adjustments to your daily diet and lifestyle, you can increase your metabolism rate. An increased metabolism rate helps in weight management and weight loss. A sluggish metabolic system on the other hand can make you feel exhausted and fatigued. However, if your metabolism is slow, there is no need to worry as there are some workable solutions and remedies to the problem.
Improve your food habits
Skipping breakfast slows down your metabolism. While sleeping, the body goes into the energy conservation mode by slowing the metabolism rate. The first thing that you consume in the morning, affects your metabolic rate – a good breakfast consisting of cereals, wheat bread, egg white or oat meal is recommended by experts due to their nutrition contents of the food stuffs.
Experts recommend that nothing should be consumed after 8 o’clock or atleast there should be a gap of 3-4 hrs between your dinner and bed time. This helps the body process to burn the calories. Also, smaller and more frequent meals are recommended as they provide a steady source of energy, which fuels metabolism.
Green tea helps burn your calories. It is a thermogenic agent which increases metabolism as proved by various studies conducted in this field. Ginger, cinnamon and cayenne pepper are also thermogenic agents like green tea. However, they should not be consumed in large amounts. A small quantity of any of these herbs can be used as an ingredient for cooking. It will have a positive impact on your metabolic rate.
Mate is a herb which also boosts the metabolic rate. It is used by some people for energy. It has only a small amount of caffeine, and hence not harmful to people who are sensitive to caffeine.
Water is very essential for your body. Minimum 8 ounces of water should be consumed everyday as metabolism needs water to work effectively.
Consumption of proteins also increases the body’s metabolic rate. It increases the metabolism and promotes fat loss.
Exercising
Exercising atleast once a day for half an hour boosts the metabolism rate. If possible,
exercise twice daily, that is, a vigorous exercise in the morning, and a mild walk in the evening. This makes the calories burn more effectively and at a faster rate.
Exercises should be started off at a slower speed and then increased gradually. If the same pace continues, it stops showing results after a while as the metabolism stabilizes. The metabolic process tends to adapt to the new environment. Aerobic trainings such as walking, running, cycling, swimming and step climbing also help in boosting the metabolism rate.
Good sleep
Sleep deprivation lowers the levels of the body’s growth hormone and testosterone, which forces the body into energy conservation mode. This leads to a sluggish metabolism.
After your day’s work, if you feel tired and exhausted, pay attention to your diet and enhance the fitness of your body through exercise and aerobics. This will help in the increase of the metabolic rate of your body, and keep you healthy and fit.
