A Camacho 10th Anniversary Limited Edition cigar is smooth and creamy, blended to be the ultimate successor to the incredible Triple Maduro line. Box pressed and then presented in a beautiful collectable wooden box, the Camacho 10th Anniversary line of Honduran Authentic Corojo-seed puros is a fitting tribute to all that the Eiroa family has accomplished in 10 short years of growing the world’s only authentic corojo tobacco. It is truly a masterpiece of complexity in a medium to full-flavored cigar!
Involved in growing tobacco since the early 1900’s, the Eiroa family emigrated from Cuba in what they thought would be just for the summer of 1960, but they never returned. They began buying Honduras state tobacco farms and making them profitable through a series of innovative improvements and working until they now produce fine cigars at their own factories using tobacco grown in their own fields.
The Eiroas, doing business as Caribe Imported Cigars, acquired the Camacho brand (founded in 1961 by Simon Camacho which produced the original Churchill cigar) in 1995, five years after Simon’s death. Camacho Cigars, currently a part of the Oettinger Davidoff Group, is still run by Julio’s son and president, Christian Camacho. Julio and Christian Eiroa remain convinced that it is the Authentic Corojo wrapper leaves that make the Camacho cigars soar above other Honduran cigars.
A beautiful silky-looking sienna brown wrapper surrounds the Camacho 10th Anniversary cigar. Although sometimes characterized by an obvious showing of veins, the rest of the presentation is faultless. The elegant and sophisticated bands adorning these cigars perfectly accent the golden rich color of the Authentic Corojo wrapper.
The ash of the Camacho 10th Anniversary cigar is very tight-sometimes a simple tap is not enough to break it off, and pictorial evidence of a 10th Anniversary cigar with over 3″ of ash has actually been posted on the internet. It is very tight ash indeed. This cigar also gives off a large amount of aromatic smoke.
Initially the flavor of Camacho’s 10th Anniversary offering presents some leather notes with an underlying earthiness that soon become incredible spiciness. Depending on the vitola one smokes, there is a varying amount of the relative pepperiness that can be felt it on the back of your throat and on the tongue.
Corojo pepper blended with the delicious taste of roasted almonds gradually mellows allowing notes of coffee and sweet caramel the ascendancy. Obviously, spice is the underlying flavor theme of this Camacho 10th Anniversary line. The flavors are multi-layered and complex enough that it is difficult to describe them. The finish explodes on the scene with a flavor that has even been described as a dark chocolate cherry surprise and the full flavor and medium strength of this cigar make it a favorite of aficionados across a wide range of palate preferences.
Not for the faint of heart or a newbie with an empty stomach, the Camacho 10th Anniversary cigars do have the expected Corojo pepper, but they also have so many more complex flavors that they are truly a “many splendored thing!” A fitting release to celebrate the authentic Corojo leaf grown by the Eiroas, the Camacho 10th Anniversary line of cigars is highly recommended.
