Five Outdoor Workouts You Should Try

These days, fitness is a major matter of concern. Merely following a set routine in fitness centers or at home becomes monotonous. Nowadays outdoor fitness is the new rage. There are some definite benefits to following an outdoor fitness regime. Fresh air invigorates your mind and body. The constant change in environment challenges your mind and keeps your body active.

Try yoga or aerobics: Yoga and aerobics are both extremely popular options that you can try. Yoga and aerobic are tried and tested formulae for keeping your body fit and healthy. Just shift your exercise location to a park or a garden or even your terrace to add that element of outdoor fitness. Even a small change such as this will add novelty to your workout and make you look forward to your daily fitness routine. Pursuing fitness routines through yoga or aerobics has the advantage that there are specific exercises for each part of your body, thereby providing a complete fitness routine.

Cycling, rollerblading, skating are other great routines. These are all great ways to lose some weight and tone your legs without having to deal with other gym members or trainers. The right equipment and safety gear is essential before you take up any sport. The plus point is the rush you get while cycling or rollerblading or skating will definitely keep you hooked and make you come back for more!

Make sure you work with a trained personal fitness consultant in the first few weeks, but later, as you get the hang of it, you can try going solo as well. Hiking improves your sense of balance, and evenly tones all your muscles. It improves your upper body strength and improves your overall flexibility.

Perform some of these exercises in a single circuit. Try jumping jacks for around a minute or a minute and a half continuously without a break. Stop for a second. Then try the exercise called a ‘Spiderman push up’. Keep doing the pushups until you are exhausted. Then rest for a few minutes. Now try doing squats for around 8-10 repetitions. This constitutes one circuit. Take a break for a few minutes and complete the circuit again. Make sure you are with your personal trainer or a professional when you try these circuits. Drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated.

Endurance training: Outdoor fitness is a great way to increase your endurance or stamina. The basic premise of endurance training ensures that you have to expend more energy in order to lose weight. You can try pull ups on trees, pushups against park benches etc. you can try a stepping exercise where you raise one foot on the surface of the seat of a park bench and lower it again. Do this continuously for 30 seconds and then switch to the other leg. You can also try reverse lunges, walking lunges, scissor jumps, etc.

All of these can combine to make great outdoor fitness regimes. Choose wisely and reap the benefits of a fun routine.
