Seven Steps To Getting The Most Out Of Haydays

Haydays is the official start of snowmobiling. And for anyone that has ever attended the event, its sensory overload. Between the mess of vendors, swap meet, racers, and food stands, there is a lot to see. To make the most out of your experience, here are a few tips to a successful outing.

1. Have a plan. List what you want to accomplish, and write it down. Knowing what you want to accomplish is a good start on how to plan your day. Time is crucial, and usually goes by way too fast when your there. I would even recommend listing what’s most important, just in case you run out of time.

2. Do some research. Check out webpages that show off the products you are looking for. Haydays is known for deals, and even steals on non-current or used items. But make sure you don’t waste time learning about a product you aren’t interested in anyway. Check out websites. If its parts you’re after, check out a parts fiche online. If its clothing, look at a few websites, figure out what you like and what it\’s selling for.

3. Prepare yourself. If you are after a heavy part, bring a wagon. Make sure you pack for the weather. It’s September, so it can be cold in the morning, hot in the afternoon, and rain at night. So bring appropriate clothing. Haydays is notorious for wacky weather. Don’t let it ruin your day.

4. Start early. Everything takes a little longer than planned. So plan to start a bit early, and stick to it. Don’t over estimate your ability to do everything. Sometimes it’s easy to stray and lose track of time. I would suggest a watch, or cell phone clock. Keep in mind, cell service is usually non-existent, and with thousands of people trying to use only a few towers, don’t expect your phone to function perfectly.

5. Find your deal. With every vendor offering the best deal of the show, it’s easy to make buying decision you might regret. If you hear a phrase like “this is similar to,” be careful. It might not be what you are looking for. Also, don’t get caught up dealing with someone promising everything for nothing. I am not trying to scare you, but you don’t want to settle for something if it’s not what you really wanted. Refer to step one. Your deal is out there. Look at a few vendors. Even though most reputable vendors tend to price similar items at similar prices, you might find a better selection, non-current item, or combo price at another vendor. So don’t buy the first thing you see.

6. Know who you bought from. If you are buying new products, make sure you can reach the company in the future with any questions, problems, or additions you might want to make to your collection. You take a risk buying at a trade show like haydays. So make sure you don’t save a penny now to spend a dollar later. If you are buying used, ask the right questions. How long was it used? How can I make sure it works? Can I reach you after the sale?

7. Enjoy the show! Spend some time exploring the wonders of haydays. Make sure you set aside some time to splurge on the new products, watch racing, enjoy a freestyle show, and run into a few riding buddies.
