When You Fear to Lose Your Memory is There Anything That Can Be Done?

A Good Working Memory and The Benefits Of That.

Nobody wants to lose his good working memory in daily functioning.

The memory helps us through all our activities day after day. At the moment we rise from our bed, going to the bath room we need to know where to go. A simple activity like preparing our breakfast and using the cutlery. Everything we do depends on our remembering what to do, where to find the objects needed and also how to use them.

Imaging you don’t know what to do with a spoon or with a simple fork. More serious: what to do with a knife.

We all can think of a variety of daily activities and what would happen if you should have lost your memory.
So the benefits of a good working memory are indefinitely.

Is Not Remembering a Disaster?

Everybody has his or her moments of not remembering and asking themselves whether this is something to be worried about. Maybe you think there is nothing to do about that.

Be sure, just like you can exercise your body, you can exercise your brain to maintain it in good shape. It’s a good thing too that there are enough possibilities to even improve and sharpen your memory.

As stated before you can compare memory power with physical power. The more you exercise, the better shape you get.

Conclusion: there is no disaster in forgetting now and then things that are important to you. This is possibly the stimulant for starting to work out on your brain and improve your memory.

Improving Your Memory.

The first step in memory improvement is to be more concentrated on what you are doing and on things happening around you. If you always forget the names of (new) people you can teach yourself to pay more attention on their names when you first meet.

This requires that you start being conscious of these situations and conduct yourself actively in changing your way of being present and attentive. After a certain period of time you have implemented this new behavior and made it to a second nature. Don’t think of other things but be fully concentrated on what is important at that moment.

Repeat the name inside your head and use the right moment to speak to the person concerned using his or her name.

The Power of Repeating.

Like said before with remembering names by repeating them in your head and also in your speaking, this counts too in the case of other things you want to remember.
Maybe you remember your younger days at school when you had to learn the multiplication tables. The only way to get it into your memory was by reiteration.

If it worked in your younger days, why shouldn’t it nowadays work the same way for you as a grownup?

Just Do It!

If you really are convinced you want to improve your memory this is the foundation of your motivation. Having your goal set clearly for yourself, you will start working on realizing it.

You will find out, being well motivated, that the effort needed is very acceptable. Just always keep your goals in mind. The more concrete and clear image you have of your goal the easier it will be to work on it.

Remember: Repeating works not only in body exercises, it also helps to improve your memory.
