Why Most Health Products Like Diets & Work Out Machines Do Not Work
No doubt, you’re reading this article because you’re interested in experiencing a healthier life style. If you’ve been out of shape for some time, then the tips here may help you to ease your way back into an active and health life style. Even if you’re one of those people who have always had a battle with weight, the sensible information contained within this article could help you gain a better handle on how to move forward. But first let’s briefly talk about why most diets and health equipment just don’t work for most people.
Why Diets & Fancy Workout Equipment Fail Most People
If you turn on your television between midnight and 6 AM, you will probably see a whole host of diet and work out infomercials. If you Google words like “diet”, “lose weight”, “weight loss”, and “how to get in shape”, you’ll be bombarded with hundreds of thousands of websites, all offering you a way, supposedly, to get back in shape and experience a healthier life. The reason all of these don’t really work is that they fail to address the root cause of the problem. Instead, they only focus on the external effects and symptoms.
It’s important to note that eating a healthy meals and regular exercise are very crucial keys to being healthy, but the problem isn’t solved by simply changing these two aspects. You see proof of this all the time with people who, once they achieve a measure of weight loss and well-being, stop what they are doing and revert back to their old habits. They end up gaining weight and fall into the yo-yo cycle of weight loss and weight gain.
The Root of Weight Problems
So what is the bottom line? Unless there are underlying diseases, such as thyroid conditions, most people’s root cause of being out of shape is an emotional problem. Many people don’t understand that fried, salty, sugary, buttery and greasy foods act as a kind of addictive drug in the body of humans. This is the reason we have “comfort foods”. These foods are completely unhealthy and can even cause people to die of heart attacks and heart disease, but they give one a false sense of release from stress and negative emotional states.
People end up eating these foods for subtle emotional reasons that they may not even be aware of. For example, an individual may not realize that the reason he loves to eat fried pork chops with mashed potatoes is not so much because the taste may be good, but because this is what their mother always cooked for Sunday dinner, a time when the family gathered around to chat and eat. Memories of togetherness and being loved may be closely tied to that particular food. Often, this is not readily apparent to the person themselves, so they never really know why it is that they like one kind of food over another.
In conclusion, being healthy is more than just eating nutritionally sound foods and keeping a regular exercise routine. It’s about your mind, emotions, and psychological health as well. While most people want to lose weight fast and look for ways to hurry through the process, the key is to be sensible about things and to work your way into a permanent life style of health.
