Stun Guns For Travelers: Things To Consider

Are you planning to travel soon? With all the crime news that we hear, sometimes it is really comforting that you have a weapon to help you defend yourself. This is why many people consider the use of stun guns for self-defense. You can keep this in your house or you can also bring it while traveling.

Stun gun or taser is an electroshock weapon that momentarily disables a person with an electric shock. It is safe to use because it does not leave permanent injuries or harm. You can easily aim the gun to the torso of the attacker and expect him to feel dazed and eventually fall to the ground. You can immediately escape the scene or call additional help. Do not worry that you will be electrocuted if the attacker holds you after you shot him. This weapon works directly to the muscle so there is no way that the shock will be transferred.

You should also remember that the effect of the stun gun only lasts for 15 minutes or less and after that, the attacker will be able to regain his strength so work your way immediately.

With the protection this weapon can offer, it is not impossible if you would wish to bring this on your travel. It is relatively small that you can carry it in your purse or bag and with that, you will be more confident of your safety. However, there are things to consider when bringing a stun gun in your trip since not all states or cities allow the use of this weapon.

Here are things that you must consider when traveling with stun gun or taser:

1. Call the airlines, ships or trains that you will be traveling and ask them about their policy about stun gun. It is very wise to call first so you will know if you are allowed to bring the self-defense weapon. Most of their staff and crews carry this weapon too but you do not know if they are allowing the passengers to do the same.

2. Check if this weapon is legal in the country/city/state that you will visit. There are 42 states in America that already legalized the use of stun gun but there are still states that do not. Some states that haven\’t legalized stun guns include New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, Massachusetts and Michigan.

3. To know for sure, you can contact the sheriff\’s office, local law enforcement agencies or Office of the State Attorney General. This way, you will be aware if you can carry the weapon with you or not.

If you are traveling abroad then you might as well research first to know about the place\’s rules and regulations about taser weapons. It is not safe to assume that you can just bring your weapon.

Bringing a strong self-defense weapon like stun gun in your trip is definitely ideal for your safety but for the same reason that it is such a strong weapon makes it illegal in some parts of the globe.
