How to Avoid Hotels With Bedbugs

Recently there has been what can only be described as an epidemic of bed bugs in hotels in New York, and most especially in Manhattan. These pesky little creatures get everywhere, and the outbreak continues to spread as people take them home with them.

The outbreak of bugs though should not put you off travelling, or indeed put you off visiting new York; all you need to do is take some measures that will ensure that you will not get infected. It is quite simple to still enjoy your travel and not have to worry about these pests.

Firstly, when you are choosing your accommodation, you can consult the listings that you can find published. There has been such a problem in recent times with these pests that there are public listing available that will ensure you that the hotel that you visit is bug free.

If you want to be entirely sure though that the accommodation of your choice is free of the problem, you should investigate whether it had had an inspection carried out or not. What this means is you may find that some rooms are not on the clear listings because they have not been checked.

So, once you are pretty sure that the hotel you wish to use is using the best precautionary measures to ensure that it is free of the pesky animals, you can check whether the accommodation has an on site controller. This might seem like an exaggeration, but many complexes have employed a full time member of staff to carry out controls and exterminations.

Once you are pretty sure that you will have no problems with your stay, you still need to be sure when you arrive at your destination. It is quite easy to check your room to ensure that it is indeed clean and free of pests. These termites will leave little blood stains and eggs that look like minute dots in the bed linen, so leave your luggage outside and check the beds before you enter.

The pests will infest rooms entirely if the measures are not carried out to exterminate them, and you will physically see them running away to hide when you turn the light on. If this is the case, report the incident and abandon your accommodation. If on the other hand, you are sure that the room is clean and sanitary, you need to enjoy your stay and take preventative measures when you travel home.

It only takes one bug you have missed to get into your luggage for you to take an infestation home. So when you arrive home you need to keep your entire luggage in air tight bags for some days; this way if your have inadvertently brought any surprises home with you they will soon run out of air. This way you can enjoy your stay in the hotels of your choice and ensure that you do not bring any unwelcome guests back home with you that will ruin the memories of your stay.
