Tips That Can Help You Lose Belly Fat
Aging, extra calories, lack of exercise, a sedentary lifestyle, and genetic factors combine to create a flabby belly. A flabby belly, as you know, looks very ugly and it kind of contorts your body shape. Trying to lose it with diet alone takes a long time and is not recommended. You need exercise irrespective of whether you have belly fat or not. Here are some top tips that can help you lose your belly fat:
1. Before we get down to the tips, you must know that a woman\’s belly that measures more than 35 inches or a man\’s belly that\’s over 40 inches is a big cause for concern. This is the general thumb rule.
2. If you don\’t exercise, anytime now is a good time to start. Exercising burns fat, increases your metabolic rate, makes you feel good, builds your muscles, and helps you stay in shape. You can start by walking, which is a great all-round aerobic exercise. The Department of Health and Human Services recommends moderate activity like brisk walking for 150 minutes every week or slightly intense exercise like jogging for at least 75 minutes every week. It also recommends 2 days of strength training workouts. Considering that a week has 168 hours, allocating the exercising time seems easy. All you have to do is motivate yourself.
3. When you are in the process of losing belly fat, you must focus on cardio training. Sure, you can do strength training as well, but the cardio workouts will strengthen your heart and help you lose belly fat faster. Running is the best cardio workout. It helps you knock off your belly fat in double quick time. All you need is a good pair of running shoes and you\’re on your way. Running for 30 minutes daily for 4-5 days in a week can produce great results.
4. Other great cardio workouts for losing belly fat are swimming, rowing and cycling. Swimming gives you an all-body workout, while rowing also helps enhance your strength. All these cardio workouts are great – you just have to make a choice and start.
5. Consider taking up a sport if you do not like any of the exercises mentioned above. Playing a game is fun – it increases your competitive quotient and makes you friends as well. Plus – you lose belly fat because games like tennis, badminton, basketball and football require effort and agility. You can play a game for 4-5 days in a week and that should start knocking off your belly fat.
6. Remember that you must start slowly and only after consulting your doctor. Though all cardio exercises are good for the body, some may not be suitable for your type of body.
7. Always warm up before starting. You need your muscles to be supple and flexible enough to take on the challenges presented by cardio workouts.
8. Finally, do not expect fast results. Fat accumulates easily, but it takes time to eliminate it. Measure your progress every week and if you rise to the occasion, you will start seeing positive results coming in week-after-week.
