Interesting Hair Loss Myths Revealed
When it comes to looking for reasons to explain why you are shedding so much hair to the point of baldness, people can have varied answers for it. Unfortunately not all of it is true, and some if not most of what we believe in are really not grounded on what is true. That is why we will be dispelling myths that you probably may have been taking as facts.
It is a common perception held by many that only the male population are the unfortunate ones to be struck with genetic hair loss. The condition may happen mostly with the guys but this type of hair loss can also occur in women. Most of the time it may not be as pronounced as the balding that will occur in men, but in severe cases there will be marked thinning especially around the middle hairline.
Also another myth that is also related to men and hair loss is that wearing hats can lead to baldness. Some people have the notion that it prevents the hair follicles from breathing or relaxing, for short they are constricted.
But this is not the case, because the hair does not get its oxygen or nutrients from the air, but rather on the bloodstream. Only if the hat you are wearing is very tight, then it could really affect the circulation on your head. So you don’t have to put off those hats if it makes your fashion statement, just make sure that it fits you right.
Another misconception that most people have is that cutting that cutting the hair will cause it to grow thicker strands. This isn’t true and the reason that it may appear thick is that the part of the hair which is nearest the roots is naturally thicker. Therefore it only gives that impression of thickness.
We are also informed that shedding a hundred hair strands daily is normal. Apparently this number is just an overestimate because losing that many would be too much, and is already a beginning sign of hair loss. Most likely we would normally shed roughly around 20-50 hairs.
Another myth that has been fed to people especially with shampoo commercials is that it increases the amount of your hair. Sometimes people also confuse this with the phrase, “increased hair volume”. To make it clear for you, we are already born with an exact number of hair follicles, and this is predetermined by genetics. You will not grow more hair follicles than you already have, even to any amount of shampoo, serum, or pill that you would apply.
Others also believe in rather a more bizarre practice of standing with their heads to promote better circulation to the head. Although it is true that this directs more blood to the area, but experts claim that it would take more than that to prevent hair loss, or to improve your hair condition for that matter.
Some people, whose hygiene may be put on question, believe that hair loss can also be brought by frequent washing. This is most definitely wrong. Although hair may be more sensitive when it is wet, but it does not mean that it can lead to hair loss. In fact, you should never skip on washing your hair because this is one of the most important ways to keep your hair and scalp clean and free from probable infections. Even the best hair transplant doctors would tell you that the very basic practice that you have to do is to cleanse your hair because not doing so can also contribute to hair fall.
