Going Digital With Data Capture
The world clearly has undergone some big changes in the past few years. Practically every aspect of human life has been in one way or another influenced by technology. From pregnancy to giving birth to raising kids, technology for sure plays a part. More and more homes are being equipped with all the innovations created specifically to cater to everyone’s needs. As far as communication goes, it’s almost impossible to find a person in a crowd without a cell phone. Homes have landlines and internet connection.
Back when people only relied on telegrams and snail mail everything was a whole lot more difficult than things are today. You can now pay bills online, buy stuff online and many more. You can jump from one state to another without traveling for months. The new era benefits so much from technology and everyone is thankful for it.
As far as paper documents are concerned, technology did not just take big steps. It more accurately jumped a big leap. If you would just imagine being in the shoes of employees or students back in the days, you would be surprised how much has changed. Before computers, data capture and scanning were known to the world, people had to rely on paper. Books were used in schools and a whole lot of paper was used for offices government or private. If you had to do a book report on a book you had to read it and read it before the deadline.
Ask anyone from the typewriter era how it was not having access to data capture and they’ll probably tell you it was very hard. For one, a single mistake would merit a retype of the whole page. Using liquid eraser is fine for minor paperwork; but definitely not for programs or memos or letters addressed to very important people. That would outright scream unprofessional. Typing on a typewriter also isn’t a walk in the park. The keys are hard to press and an inconsistent amount of pressure applied can lead to letters not showing the same legibility. A too hard press would make a letter seem like it was in bold a faint press can produce a shadow like effect.
The same people from the so called typewriter era would surely claim that using a keyboard is much easier and of course more finger friendly. Of course, the keyboard did not come to the world on its own. It was the computer’s ally, and together they gave way to document processing like never before. Along with the computer’s development came the access to data capture. It is through scanning that a digital form is gained for perusal. The digital form is now easily modifiable through the computer and can be edited in any way the user sees fit.
Through data capture there is no more need to keep hard copies of files. They can be stored in cyberspace with protection tailored fit to your specification. You can change it any way you want and still have the copy of the original. It is a step that was taken to lead the people to a truly digital age.
