The Feng Shui and Wind Chime Connection
Understanding Feng Shui
Feng shui, pronounced as ‘fung schway’, is an ancient Chinese art form and also a science. Feng translates into wind and shui translates into water. Feng shui is all about placing objects and arranging the space around you to bring about perfect harmony and balance in your environment. The main purpose of feng shui is to balance chi, which means energy, which is very powerful but invisible.
Do not be mistaken into thinking that Feng shui is only about decorating and improving the aesthetic appeal of your home. Feng Shui is much more serious than that. Feng shui involves the application of certain rules, regulations, and guidelines. These guidelines of feng shui are then used and applied with reference to decorating and aesthetics.
Feng shui is said to have originated between 265 to 420BC in the Jin Dynasty. The term Feng Shui was developed when in ancient Chinese the belief was to manipulate the Chi using wind and water. Hence the term Feng Shui was developed.
All the Feng shui knowledge that is available these days, on the Internet or through published books are derived from the works of Huang Shi Gong and handed over to Zhang Liang during the Qin Dynast. These works were then rewritten by Yang Yun Song in the Tang Dynasty and that is what we refer to now, in modern times.

If the windchime is made of Metal, then to get best results it needs to be placed in the west, Northwest or West direction of your home or office.
If the windchime is made of wood or bamboo, then placing it in the east, southeast or south of the house will get best results and bring positive chi.
A glass or ceramic windchime is best placed in the Northeast and Southwest of any home or office for positive flow of chi.
Density of the chime – the density of the rods of the windchime, whether they should be solid or hollow matters in feng shui. Using hollow rods to enhance your career and placing the windchime in the north is helpful. Hollow rods are considered to lift the chi while solid rods are said to compress it.
Number of rods – the number of rods is important in feng shui. This also depends on the reason why you are using the windchime and where you will be placing it. The number of rods is directly related to the number of that direction. For example, the number four represents the Southeast, so there should be a windchime of four rods in the southeast.
